This is quite concerning, if accurate. Of course, his base couldn't give a flying f--k about any of this, so they'll blindly mash the Republican button and to hell with what happens next 😠

Honestly that Trump is even a candidate is concerning.

Codependency: "It is an emotional and behavioral condition that affects an individual's ability to have a healthy, mutually satisfying relationship.

It is also known as 'relationship addiction' because people with codependency often form or maintain relationships that are one-sided, emotionally destructive and/or abusive."

NBC News: Biden, Trump and the codependent 2024 campaign

... Just like in 2020, Joe Biden once again needs Donald Trump — and Trump once again needs Biden.

Call it the codependent presidential campaign of 2024.

It’s one of the reasons why it SEEMS like we’re barreling towards an inevitable Biden vs. Trump rematch, despite majorities saying they don’t want Biden and Trump to run for president.

Both men — as well as their bases — need each other.

So it’s not a surprise that Biden put Trump, as well as his MAGA movement and Jan. 6, front and center in his campaign re-election launch video last week.

“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America. And we still are. The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer,” Biden said.

And it’s no surprise that Trump singled out Biden while campaigning last week in New Hampshire.

“No, it’s Biden who poses the threat to democracy, because he is grossly incompetent and has no idea what he’s doing.”

I would love to say at this point that Trump doesn't have a hope in hell, but everyone said that in 2016 and look what happened.

Mind you - I remember the Republican Party back them couldn't unite on a single candidate apart from Trump, which basically allowed him to clear the field while the rest of the Republicans were caught up in in-fighting and throwing insults at each other (as well as Trump).

Almost the entire republican party is running scared from the retrumplicans. Even if they had an establishment candidate prepared to go head to head most would be too scared to give full support to that candidate. Unless Trump keels over or self-destructs or is convicted of something serious he will be the republican candidate in the election.

The NY Times - E. Jean Carroll Seeks New Damages From Trump for Comments on CNN

breaking

E. Jean Carroll, who this month won $5 million in damages from former President Donald J. Trump, is now seeking a “very substantial” additional amount in response to his insults on a CNN program just a day after she won her sexual abuse and defamation case.

Ms. Carroll’s filing Monday in Manhattan federal court seeks to intensify the financial pain for Mr. Trump. ...

Monday’s filing came in a separate defamation lawsuit that Ms. Carroll had filed in 2019 against Mr. Trump, 76, which is before the same judge who presided in the civil trial

The older case stemmed from comments Mr. Trump made that year, shortly after she said that he had raped her in a Manhattan department store dressing room in the mid-1990s.

That lawsuit had been sidetracked by appeals, but is still pending.

Excellent news! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

I expect a Marjorie Taylor"I'm nuttier than a squirrel sh_t" Greene to jump into the fray.

After all Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Kevin "I'll do anything to get this job ... anything" McCarthy said only one rep needed to force him to step down.

the Daily Beast: How Trump’s Call for Debt Default Could Bite GOP in the Ass

“I say to the Republicans out there—congressmen, senators—if they don’t give you massive cuts, you’re going to have to do a default,” Trump said.

Trump may have even given up the game, acknowledging that much of his calculation was political. When he was president, he said politicians shouldn’t use the threat of a default as a negotiating tool, but said he was now changing his tune “because now I’m not president.”

“If I win, they're going to be doing the same thing to me in two years, I guarantee you that,” Trump said of Democrats. “They're going to play a very hardball game.”

On Friday, he was perhaps even more explicit on his Truth Social platform, saying “Republicans should not make a deal on the debt ceiling unless they get everything they want (Including the ‘kitchen sink’). That’s the way the Democrats have always dealt with us. Do not fold!!!”

But as Republicans try to force Democrats to accept deep spending cuts in exchange for simply not defaulting on the debt, Republican lawmakers have conspicuously and repeatedly said there will not be a default.

He is running for vice president. This is just how he is making himself known.

You missed my dash of irony. He knows perfectly well that he hasn't got a hope of winning the nomination but he does have a hope of being picked for veep. This is just a ploy to increase his national recognition and maybe Trump's interest.

I have to reluctantly say that he is a very good public speaker, much better than anyone else on either side that I have heard. He would be a valuable addition to any presidential ticket. It doesn't hurt that he is black and from humble beginnings.

Scott announced his presidential run. US$5 million in tv advertising starts Wednesday. CNN takes a look at his bona fide conservative creds and recent endorsements:

CNN"Good luck to Senator Tim Scott in entering the Republican Presidential Primary Race. It is rapidly loading up with lots of people, and Tim is a big step up from Ron DeSanctimonious, who is totally unelectable. I got Opportunity Zones done with Tim, a big deal that has been highly successful. Good luck Tim!," Trump posted on Truth Social.

IMHO, Scott's candidacy will be, for several reasons, a positive for the Dems. First, he'll likely become popular with Republicans who don't want a bar of Trump or DeSantis. Which will, when the results of his boosting Scott finally become obvious to Donny Dimwit, enrage him further. Especially if Scott starts magnanimously hinting at the possible suitability of either Don or Ron as Vice. And that will also enrage Ron. Second point, Tim Scott, given his background and rapid rise to fame, will almost certainly have bodies in his backyard, and if Don, Ron and their acolytes, as insurance, haven't already released packs of cadaver hounds, I'll be very surprised.
