Security for everyone. Life goes on. North Korea is in fact acting rationally In this regard and that is the kind of stability they are ultimately seeking with these actions.

So you feel once they get accepted as a nuclear armed country, life up there will be a bunch of roses? They will be recognised. You feel they can then be trusted? Another aim according to Christiane Amanpour is improving the economy. How will that happen? Sure, the sanctions can all be removed. There would be no need nor desire to give any rewards, as they arent giving anyone anything. And based on past lack of trust, I assume the US will hang around the region for a while yet.

On the other side North Korea has a similar problem from their point of view.

Agree. So there needs to be faith on both sides. Im unsure if the US would leave if they stay nuclear. Maybe after a period. The I can see NK wanting aid, rewards, help, then its an act of war if you don't. That instability and aggression you cannot really work with.

I agree, its difficult to get any real information about Kim, everything we know about him comes from the media. One simply does not know who to believe.

Thats the anti US stance in this thread and Trump. Trump has very very little to do with the issues today. Unless these missiles and nuclear weapons were dusted off and improved suddenly since Jan 21 this year. I do also see the sympathy for KJU as its all about Trump. We know what Trump is, but its not always correct to default him into the bad corner for every issue the US is involved with. Thats a mistake. KJU sits alongside a few other past evil men in power that were not tough, but brutal

Hot seat yes. he hasn't caused it. Big deal for a few tweets, KJU's words and actions are all far far harsher. Trump hasn't helped but his opponent would still be ripping into the stupid yankees anyway. If Obama was still POTUS probably target his weakness, but handy to target a few tweets

I see home as the single one, but thats only my guess. What would happen of he was killed? Someone take over thats the same or they have a friendly revolution and get on with their lives? Depends if they are believers or scared?

Well, it takes two to play a game. If Kim is playing Evil Doctor-level 4-dimensional Go, then Trump is playing 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians the Board Game', ages 4 and up.

If you park your Ferrari in an alley with the windows down and the keys in the ignition, it's still the thief's responsibility for stealing it, but that doesn't mean it's an OK thing to do. Some may be true, some not. He was said to have executed his wife/girlfriend then after a year she's back again. Intelligence agencies can release things on their own timetables depending on how they want to influence.

Kind of off topic but South Korea itself as mentioned previously has a bit of a history of military rule and intelligence agency over-reach and they are still getting over that era and trying to strengthen their democracy. Just last month for example:

Guardian: South Korea’s spy agency has admitted it conducted an illicit campaign to influence the country’s 2012 presidential election, mobilising teams of experts in psychological warfare to ensure that the conservative candidate, Park Geun-hye, beat her liberal rival.

An internal investigation by the powerful National Intelligence Service also revealed attempts by its former director and other senior officials to influence voters during parliamentary elections under Park’s predecessor, the hardline rightwinger Lee Myung-bak.

Claims, now confirmed by the service, that it was behind an aggressive online campaign to sway voters is certain to add to public anger towards South Korea’s political system.
