Funny how the MAGA crowd suddenly have a lot of feelings now their man is being held accountable for the bad stuff he did, isn't it?

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix - The big ruling against Trump’s business, explained

today

One of the first legal challenges to Donald Trump during this presidential campaign isn’t a criminal indictment that could send him to jail.

It’s a lawsuit by the state of New York alleging he misstated the value of his business to dodge taxes or get investors.

That case is supposed to go to trial next week, and Trump or his business might have to pay some $250 million in fines. (This is a lawsuit, which means there isn’t any prison time.)

But the way these kinds of business fraud lawsuits work in New York is that before a trial even begins, the court decides whether fraud was committed.

This week, a New York judge said it definitively was - specifically that Trump himself committed fraud.

That means Trump and his company can’t do business in New York, and it could make it easier for him to be found liable for huge fines in the upcoming trial ...

It's like in the 2020 election. When they realised the vote wasn't going their way, MAGA idiots start shouting "Stop the count!"

Stupid because if they are losing and stop the count... They lose.

But they are stupid.

Just like (in that story) when Trump went out before all the votes had finished being counted and (somehow) declared himself the winner.

Further to your point - if he was winning (as he claimed he was) why would he want the counting to stop? He's winning (apparently), so he should have had nothing to worry about, right? 🙄

Another (very) bad day for The Don  🙄

The Washington Post - Chutkan rejects Trump request to step aside as judge in his D.C. trial

27 Sep 23

U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan on Wednesday denied Donald Trump’s demand that she recuse herself from his federal election obstruction case ... *

Trump’s defense can ask an appellate court to weigh in, but the standard for a federal appeals court or the U.S. Supreme Court to review the ruling is very high, requiring “clear and indisputable” proof a judge has failed her duty ...

Trump is scheduled for a March 4 trial on charges of illegally plotting to undermine the federal government, subvert the legitimate results of the 2020 election and deprive citizens of the right to have their votes counted.

*  Chutkan gets to make the decision whether she’s recused - nobody else.

Seeking to disqualify a judge is a challenging and precarious move - one that, if it fails (as it usually does), runs the risk of antagonizing the person granted the power to judge the case.

BBC News - Fact-checking Donald Trump's claim that wind turbines kill whales

yesterday

Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that wind turbines off the coast of the US "are causing whales to die in numbers never seen before".

These claims have attracted significant attention on social media, where a clip of Mr Trump's speech has now been viewed more than nine million times.

But Mr Trump's claims are not backed up by evidence.

Cognitively impaired?

Newsweek: 'The View' Mocks Trump's Net Worth: 'Wait Until Melania Finds Out'

Hosts of ABC's The View mocked Donald Trump on Wednesday after a judge ruled that the former president inflated his net worth.

On Wednesday morning's airing, hosts began the show by speaking about Trump and a judge's ruling in New York that the former president overvalued his properties and inflated his net worth, with co-host Whoopi Goldberg saying, "For years, you know, I have mentioned that you-know-who was just playing at being a real estate tycoon."

Fellow co-host Joy Behar chimed in, saying, "What a loser he is....Wait till Melania finds out he's only worth 800 bucks," alluding to Trump's wife.

Melania Trump in 2018 decorated the White House with blood-red Christmas trees lining the halls. Later referring to the public reaction said: "You know, who gives a f__k about Christmas stuff and decoration but I need to do it, right?"

She's announced a new line of Christmas decorations on Twitter posting: "I am pleased to continue USA Memorabilia’s tradition of celebrating the season with A Red, White and Blue Christmas. This year, I found myself looking to my love for our great nation for inspiration. May everyone experience an abundance of peace & love during the holiday season."

My best guess is Trump will have a Christmas tree painted red and white with Melania giving him blue balls.

Speaking of Melania, when Trump was asked about her lack of support on the campaign trials trail, Trump said: "She doesn't need to be out there. She has confidence. She has a lot of self-confidence."

Um ... her self-confidence wasn't the question.

The Washington Post - Opinion - A judge calls out Trump’s business lies

27 Sep 23

If you take away the heaping mountain of BS on which Donald Trump built his business empire, what would remain? The former president and his children are about to find out.

In a devastating ruling issued on Tuesday, a New York judge [New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur F. Engoron] asserted the proposition that business fraud is illegal in the Empire State, documented that lying is standard operating procedure at Trump enterprises, stripped Trump’s tangle of corporations of its licenses to do business, and took steps to appoint a receiver to oversee the dismantling of nearly the whole thing: the towers, the mansions, the golf courses, the clubhouses. ...

Interestingly, Trump’s attorneys don’t make much of an effort to defend the fraudulent valuations. Instead, they have argued that banks and insurance companies know better than to believe anything Trump says. Anyone doing business with such a notorious liar had to be in on the joke, as it were. No harm done.

The judge was having none of it. Engoron gave New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) the go-ahead to pull the business licenses of a catalogue of Trump companies, and set about selecting independent receivers to “manage the dissolution of the former LLCs.”

The wreckage of the Trump companies appears to be headed for a fire sale, with proceeds going toward the possible $250 million penalty James is seeking.
