Yabanize:
mattwnz: If it was so important , why have they waited for so long to release it, when they could have told us when it was discovered. Releasing it in election week, come on.

Kim said the timing was decided to suit when his guests could come. There are going to be other guests too

Boring, so what if the government is spying on us, collecting IP and organising smear campaigns against opponents?
Who wants these evil doing truth tellers coming over here and disrupting my almost religious beliefs about my political party.
I want to be lied to and manipulated, it's my right as a kiwi.

interesting view on it all, if most of the opinions weren't based on peoples political views then I think some would trake it more seriously unfortunately it lacks balance and is clearly only to discredit the Government not politicians in general.

If one good thing comes out of it all then lets hope its that Governments are there to serve the people not the other way round, and all politicians are guilty of this.

The problem is some of us work in the industry and know how easily it would be to put in. And also know that under the guise of LI there isn't much providers can do but comply if they want to continue to do business.

Wouldn't surprise me one little bit if there was a port mirror on all the international cables landing into the US. Lots of metadata even with SSL in use these days that can be data mined from that.

Nothing to hide then nothing to fear right?? So why does everyone have a password on their email account if they have nothing to fear?

He may be correct in saying the GCSB was not doing any major spying on New Zealanders. What he didn't choose to say is that New Zealanders are safe from spying from ALL agencies, local or foreign.

I thought about cancelling various appointments and paying a hefty charge to Air NZ and an Auckland taxi driver so I could hear this gripping news in person...

Then I remembered that I have to walk my dogs.

wish he'd go to the US and clear his name.  I'll happily pay for a one way flight just to get his face off my tv news and papers.

It's being compared to Watergate by his lawyer.

It could be that Kim Dotcom delayed the news till the last 5 days of the election, because of New Zealand's terribly short attention span to anything mildly important.  At this point it's 50/50.  It could be the news that tips the scales after all the weight from the crap that has come out of the woodwork during the year, or it could be a total waste of time.

Mr Key seems pretty firm that the allegations from Herr Dotcom's mate Greenwald are untrue. I have rarely seen him so unequivocal, in fact.

Where as the other side of the fence says that is a sign he is nervous.

I put John Key and Dotcom in the same basket, so it will be interesting to see them go head to head on which one is lying the best.

Very interesting post. Just wish some of the people who post on here would actually read it and take it on board.

I think that I'd prefer to cut all my toes off with bolt cutters than to attend that event.
