Exit polls indicate a landslide for Labour with around 410 seats, just short of Tony Blairs number in 1997.

Opposition fractured with Reform and Lib Dems taking seats from the Tories.

Disastrous night for the SNP in Scotland.

Starmer deserves to win,

He's spent the last 4 years purging the party of the crazy Corbynite that were electoral poison,

(Their presenc  pretty much ensured the re-election of the Tories and their parade of wacko leaders)

Labour under him is a very centrish party, and it is refreshing to see such a political party get elected in the current global situation

Labour will be constrained as to what they can fix because there is no money to go around.

In which case they should fix their broken FPP electoral system, which should be relatively cheap. That will give them a better chance of a more representative government in the longer term, when there is some money.

It's more likely to help Labour than the Tories... but yeah, I know what you mean.

If that is the case a large part of that was/is the entire Brexit silliness which is basically what the other parties are being deservedly punished for.

Labour now has a free hand to sane-fy a lot of that which will not necessarily be easy with the European partners, but is not impossible, and should be relatively straightforward to get some big economic wins out of it and progress for both over the current situation.

In view of recent history, I doubt that Europeans have the slightest interest in ever letting the British back in or doing them any other favours!

They also have plenty of more important issues on the EU plate like dealing with a lurch to the right in some member countries.

Lowest turnout since 2005 predicted. That was the year Blair won his third term against an almost anonymous Tory leader Michael Howard.

Shows that a lot of potential voters don't want any of the parties.

If you think the Tories did badly take a look at the SNP. They had 43 seats and they are predicted to get 10.

They have been struggling to swim upstream ever since Sturgeon left to go fishing.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?
