“They’ll eat grass, but they won’t abandon their program unless they feel secure,”
Vladimir Putin on sanctions against DPRK - demonstrating how much smarter he is than his US counterpart.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

He is wrong, the North Korean public will need to eat grass before the leadership gives up their Nukes. I don't think Putin is smarter than Trump
Its not actually a Trump issue, sanctions predated Trump by many years. Sanctions could have worked but with China supplying goods and Russia supplying weapons, who then allowed NK to supply weapons to Syria etc, it was a folly.
"It’s difficult to talk with people who confuse Austria and Australia"
"America is really a great nation and the Americans are a great people if they can endure so many people with such a low level of political culture."
Vladimir Putin horsing around, as reported in RT.
But wait - that's a reference to GWB - once thought of as the dumbest ever POTUS.

The law of "Johnny on the spot" says it's absolutely 100% a Trump issue.

tdgeek:Thats the anti US stance in this thread and Trump. Trump has very very little to do with the issues today. Unless these missiles and nuclear weapons were dusted off and improved suddenly since Jan 21 this year. I do also see the sympathy for KJU as its all about Trump. We know what Trump is, but its not always correct to default him into the bad corner for every issue the US is involved with. Thats a mistake. KJU sits alongside a few other past evil men in power that were not tough, but brutal
gzt:
I don't recall a single person here expressing a sympathy for Kim Jong Un.
If Obama was in power, its bad bad KJU. If Trump is in power its bad bad Trump. That's what I see here. A default type of sympathy if you like, or a drop in fault, as its best to always target Trump
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
MikeB4: The US can't stand anyone saying no to them, they have an instant tantrum. Look at their reaction to NZ saying no thanks we don't want your Nukes.
Same with NK.
Im quite happy with the status quo, as right now, there is peace. NK would talk but no nukes is not on the table. US would talk but nukes are not on the table. So either can call the other if they want. The US should stop responding to NK's tauntiing, and leave it in NK's court to talk, or not talk, that's their prerogative. The US is willing to talk, just waiting now. Thats what I prefer

I don't think so at all. KJU is a serious problem and a serious solution is needed.
Trump is an incompetent buffoon, with a penchant to divide rather than unite.
Putin and China are playing him.

Probably. Just like KJ* has played everyone all along. Its an impasse, a stalemate, and IMO thats a sound solution right now.
Im not sure what serious solution is available. If you were the negotiator, what would you ask NK and USA to concede on, if anything, and what would you ask them to offer?
