Axios -  Democrats introduce bill to rename Miami prison after Trump

05 April 2024

A group of House Democrats on Friday introduced legislation on Friday to rename a federal prison in Miami after former President Trump.

Why it matters: It's a response to a bill proposed by several House Republicans to rename Dulles Airport in D.C. after the ex-president and presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Driving the news: The two-page measure would redesignate the Miami Federal Correctional Institution in Florida as the "Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution."

Between the lines: The bill is a pithy way of drawing attention to the 91 state and federal criminal charges Trump is facing across four cases.

What they're saying: "I hope our Republican friends will join us in bestowing upon Donald J. Trump the only honor he truly deserves."

(FCI Miami is the closest federal prison to Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.)

EDIT:  We have reached page 2024, 8 years and 2 months after launching the Trump sub-forum!

The Guardian - Trump’s bizarre, vindictive incoherence has to be heard in full to be believed  [free link]<

A lot to unpack, but I thought the long winded story about "Gone with the Wind" movie shows his core demographics. It was released in 1939.

Meaning if you were 16 when you first watched it, you'd be 100 years now.

It seems.
Trump can always get something with the DJT shares.

He likely put up little money himself.
Now he 'theoretically' has billions of dollars of shares.

If his shares by the time he can cash them are only worth 1/2, 1/4, 1/8,
thats still new money he did not have, created from nothing.
He may even just use it as book wealth to extend loans without having to sell I suppose.

A friendly Oligarch, Saudi etc can also help prop them up when he needs cash.
Perhaps a way to transfer money indirectly to him without complications in large donations.

The graphs of a winner, who will win so much you will get tired of winning.

He has all this wealth on paper though, doesn't he? He can't sell his stocks/shares for at least 6 months is my understanding, and he can't just offload them all at once either as that will make any investor nervous.

Then there is this, not quite in scale of Elon's Tesla share bonus that's now under dispute.
Trump sets himself a 'very low bar' for a bonus.

Trump Stock (DJT) Is Overvalued-But You Might Be Crazy To Short It
https://www.forbes.com/sites/joelshulman/2024/04/05/trump-media-djt-stock-is-extremely-overpriced-but-too-risky-to-short/?sh=47614112456d

""
Moreover, the SEC S4 filings make clear, that if the stock price remains above $17.50 for 20 out of 30 trading days, Mr Trump will receive an additional 36 million “earnout” or bonus shares. Based on recent prevailing stock prices in the range of $45-$50, these earnout shares could be worth an additional $1.5 to $2 Billion. Consequently, his special stock earnout clause will go into effect, unless his stock drops by more than 63% from current levels in a few weeks.
""

Low bar Trump.  Only has to stay above $17.50.

This is in relation to: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-eyes-43-million-haul-biggest-fundraiser-yet-2024-04-06/

I don't believe he raised $50 million from one fundraiser, either.

The Washington Post -  Inside Donald Trump’s secret, long-shot plan to end the war in Ukraine

07 April 2024

Former president Donald Trump has privately said he could end Russia’s war in Ukraine by pressuring Ukraine to give up some territory, according to people familiar with the plan. ...

Trump’s proposal consists of pushing Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Donbas border region to Russia ...

That approach would dramatically reverse President Biden’s policy, which has emphasized curtailing Russian aggression and providing military aid to Ukraine. ...

Accepting Russian control over parts of Ukraine would expand the reach of Putin’s dictatorship after what has been the biggest land war in Europe since World War II.

The NY Times -  Trump to Sue Judge in Last-Ditch Attempt to Avert Manhattan Trial

breaking

Donald J. Trump, a week away from standing trial in Manhattan on criminal charges that he falsified records to cover up a sex scandal, has indicated he plans to file a lawsuit against the judge overseeing the case.

Court records showed on Monday that Mr. Trump was filing an action against the judge, Juan M. Merchan, though the papers were not immediately made public. ...

Mr. Trump’s unorthodox move - essentially an appeal in the form of a lawsuit - is unlikely to succeed, particularly so close to trial.

And the appeals court might act fast to reject it. A single appeals court judge will most likely issue a preliminary ruling on Monday, setting up a full five-judge panel to consider Mr. Trump’s request in the coming days.

"E for effort" or "D for desperate" ?  🙄

Hasn't he tried this already (and failed)? I hope this gets thrown out just like last time and he has to go to court again.

Also - https://edition.cnn.com/2024/04/08/investing/trump-stock-net-worth-truth-social/index.html >> a new low for Trump (financially, anyway). I guess there's only one way for these stocks to go.

Its his very old tactic of delay delay delay.

What he has NOT realised yet is the delays are not financially impossible for the law enforcers, they have however sucked US$100 Million for his legal fees, in effect he is harming himself more.
This tactic worked against small businesses whom trump screwed over as they could NOT afford the legal fees.

All I can imagine is a prosecutor has died, and is now a wandering vengeful spirit. He's taken possession of Trump, and the spirit is doing his best to make sure Trump goes to jail.

If there's no possessing ghost, then Trump's trying to bully the judge.

In the process he's just pissing off all judges everywhere, and guaranteed unlimited resources by all supporting justice workers everywhere (except maybe Florida)

The only question is will him Trump be in jail early or later, because he can't STFU?

Saw this on FB a few minutes ago, can't find a link to any story on any of the news sites confirming it (yet) so not sure how accurate this is:

Salon -  Experts say Trump lawyers may face "discipline" if they violated rule

today

Donald Trump secured a huge victory late last month when a New York court reduced his half-billion dollar bond to $175 million after his lawyers expressed difficulty with producing bond for the full judgement while he appealed.

But the former president's lawyers may have made a crucial misstep in failing to disclose that a billionaire financier had offered to put up the full $464 million judgement, according to ProPublica, and legal experts say it could cost them. ...

Prior to the appellate court's ruling, Trump's attorneys told the court it was a "practical impossibility" to obtain a surety for the full amount. The lawyers explained that around 30 firms Trump approached declined to cover him, either because they didn't want to take the risk or did not want to accept real estate as collateral. Those rejections made posting the total "an impossible bond requirement," they said.

Before the appeals panel reduced the bond, however, a billionaire lender approached Trump's team about providing a surety for the full sum.

In an interview with ProPublica, California billionaire Don Hankey said he contacted Trump's lawyers several days before the bond shrank, telling them he was willing to offer the full amount and use real estate as collateral.
