The Securities and Exchange Commission, "SEC", regulates securities exchanges, securities brokers and dealers, investment advisors, and mutual funds. Its main goals are to promote fair dealing, disclose important market information, and prevent fraud.

Of course Trump's media company picked the shadiest auditing firm. If it was a reputable auditing firm, it would never have been picked.

Funny story: Ben F Borgers, Trump Media auditor, misspelled his own name 14 different ways in filings. This includes variations like "Ben F Brogers", "Blake F Borgers", "Ben F Vonesh", and "Ben F orgers".

CNBC: SEC charges Trump Media auditor with ‘massive fraud’ on hundreds of companies, imposes lifetime ban

The auditing firm for Trump Media and the auditor’s owner were charged Friday with “massive fraud” by the Securities and Exchange Commission for accounting work that affected more than 1,500 SEC filings, the federal regulator announced.

The auditor, BF Borgers CPA, and its owner, Benjamin Borgers, have agreed to be permanently suspended from practicing as accountants before the SEC, and also agreed to pay a combined $14 million in civil penalties, without admitting or denying the allegations, the SEC said.

The agency, calling BF Borgers a “sham audit mill,” said the company and its owner “deliberately systematically failed to conduct” audits and quarterly reviews incorporated in more than 1,500 SEC filings from January 2021 through June 2023 in accordance with Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards.

The SEC said the Lakewood, Colorado-based auditor lied to clients by saying its work complied with PCAOB standards, fabricated audit documents to make it seem that the work did comply with those standards, and falsely claims in audit reports included in more than 500 public company SEC filings that the firm’s audits complied with such standards.

BF Borgers during the period covered by the SEC complaint acted as the auditor for Trump Media

Interesting, but does this impact Trump personally? Genuine question - will this make any difference to his Truth Social thing, or does he just pick another auditor and carry on?

It hardly affects even the auditing firm. They can no longer perform audits, paid a fine, without admitting guilt.

Lesson: if you're a criminal, but don't like jails, be a white collar criminal.

Steal expensive bikes in the USA: perhaps up to 15 years jail. Run a bike stealing gang, up to 20 years.

In California and Florida, convicted three times of bike theft, it's life in prison without parole.

Be a high-ranking executive at a bicycle manufacturing company, manipulate the company’s financial records to show higher sales and lower costs, to inflate the company’s stock price, and sell shares at inflated price. Pretty unlikely going to jail for even a day.

Periodically just to keep the unwashed masses fooled, occasional a white collar crime is very publicly punished.

In other words after catching the auditor committing fraud on a massive scale the SEC said "you've been a very naughty boy, now don't do it again".

Urban Milwaukee: Milwaukee Vegan Cafe Owner Appears With Trump, Assails Migrants
...
Trump claimed Gray and her cafe did better when he was in office.
...
Except that Gray’s restaurant on Wells St. opened in August 2023, more than two years after Trump left office.
...
Biden, during a December 2023 visit to Milwaukee, promoted Black business owners like Gray. “So many of you had the vision and took the risk to open businesses — you bet on yourself,” Biden said, addressing a crowd largely comprised of local business owners at the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce. “You’re proof that Black small businesses, with their talent and integrity and ingenuity, are the engines and the glue that hold the community together. I mean that sincerely.”
...
Just recently I had a migrant come into my cafe that recently passed through the borders and paid for their food with one of the prepaid cards they were given,” said Gray. “How is that as a slap in the face as a proud American who worked hard, just like each one of you? And to be affected by the food costs, utility costs, to have someone just come and just willy nilly pay for their food, in my cafe, with prepaid dollars that was funded by us.”

But Gray, according to federal court records, has received her own prepaid food.

She has filed for bankruptcy three times in the past decade and reported receiving Food Share benefits in the most recent filing.

"TIME Magazine was able to get an interview with Donald Trump which was unique because he usually only gives interviews to sycophantic outlets that don’t ask challenging questions like Fox News, Breitbart, NewsMax, Daily Stormer, Sputnik, Golden Showers Afficianado, etc."

Here are the relevant Time articles - interesting reading if overly long:

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
