She may be the greatest lawyer ever but I turned off when she started shilling for cocoa. I am absolutely sick to death of being bombarded by ads and I have zero tolerance for them. I understand bills have to be paid but this is a crappy way to do it.

Unfortunately I suspect that YouTubes rewards the actual creators so poorly that this is the only way they can make money. I also use Patreon to give money to creators whom I watch regularly .
A friend who has some music on spotify said IIRC they get 1c for ever 20,000 views

Tough for those creating content but there is no deity ordaining that people have a right to expect income for putting stuff up on YouTube or anywhere else. Every form of communication is now saturated with commercials of one kind or another and I am heartily sick of them. Those looking for financial support are turning their problem into my problem and I don't much appreciate it. Like you, I am willing to pay for content I value, such as Geekzone, but I am not willing to be blasted with ads every time I click on a link before I even know what I am looking at.

"Semafor" has a good rating from media bias fact check, even though the website looks like it's from 1990.

Semafor: How Fox News massaged a Trump interview

Fox News edited an interview with Donald Trump to remove a section in which he appeared to back off a promise to declassify federal files related to the late sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein because “you don’t want to affect people’s lives if it’s phony stuff in there.”

The former president was asked on Fox and Friends last Sunday whether, if elected again, he would declassify some federal government files related to 9/11, the JFK assassination, and “files” related to Epstein.

“Would you declassify the Epstein files?” host Rachel Campos-Duffy asked.

“Yeah, I would,” Trump said, as the television segment ended.

But Trump’s full answer appeared later on Will Cain’s Fox News radio show:

Campos-Duffy: Would you declassify the Epstein files?

Trump: Yeah, yeah, I would.

Campos-Duffy: All right.

Trump: I guess I would. I think that less so because, you don’t know, you don’t want to affect people’s lives if it’s phony stuff in there, because it’s a lot of phony stuff with that whole world. But I think I would, or at least—

Campos-Duffy: Do you think that would restore trust — help restore trust.

Trump: Yeah. I don’t know about Epstein so much as I do the others. Certainly about the way he died. It’d be interesting to find out what happened there, because that was a weird situation and the cameras didn’t happen to be working, etc., etc. But yeah, I’d go a long way toward that one.

A very well-written (IMO) article comparing how Trump and Biden both handled their guilty verdicts - and not to mistake Joe's sympathy for his son as a sign of weakness (it isn't).

Fox News - House GOP moves to name US coastal waters after Trump

13 June 2024

A House GOP lawmaker is spearheading an effort to name the United States’ coastal waterways after former President Trump.

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., is introducing a bill on Friday * to rename the immediate waters surrounding the U.S., called the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), as the "Donald John Trump Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States."

If passed, it would mandate the name change on any applicable laws, maps, documents and other records.

* The Friday bill introduction lines up with the former president’s 78th birthday.  😜

Entirely appropriate. I'd rename it myself but my Photoshop skills don't run to perspective circular text

Not directly Trump-related but Retrumplican: On the one hand they've just blocked a bill to guarantee access to IVF for couples desperate to have children while at the same time passing laws requiring women to have their rapists babies (via no-exceptions abortion bans).  I know that rational thought isn't a strong point for this lot, but does anyone know the thinking behind this one?

Makes me depressed to see how Trump and McConnell are suddenly BFF's again after the former almost tried to get the latter killed 🙄

This issue arose when a crazy person entered an IVF clinic and smashed frozen embryos. Patients sued the clinic for negligence because who wants to go through all that again. An Alabama court made a decision frozen embryo used in IVF is after conception and is therefore a child etc and therefore all laws xyz apply to care of children. This caused a number of IVF clinics to halt operations because that's a whole new ball game:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-25/ivf-frozen-embryo-alabama-supreme-court-ruling/103501872

Clinics are now resuming operations after the Alabama Republican governor approved a bill to limit criminal liability in that 'death' scenario:

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/03/06/us/alabama-ivf-fertility-protection/index.html

The Democrats tried to guarantee something similar at national level and that failed because national politics.

Axios: "Haul out the Guillotine," Trump says in fundraising email

Former President Trump in a fundraising email on Wednesday wrote, "Haul out the Guillotine!," as he baselessly accused his political opponents of going after him and his supporters.

The latest: He later sent out another email with the false claim that "they" wanted to sentence him to death.

Why it matters: It's the latest example of the presumptive GOP presidential candidate's calls for violence and retaliation against his political enemies following his historic conviction on 34 felony counts.

Trump last week said during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday that he'd have "every right to go after" his political opponents if he's elected in November.
