Trump administration ran covert operation attacking vaccination in The Philippines:

Reuters: At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. military launched a secret campaign to counter what it perceived as China’s growing influence in the Philippines, a nation hit especially hard by the deadly virus. The clandestine operation has not been previously reported. It aimed to sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines and other life-saving aid that was being supplied by China, a Reuters investigation found.

In uncovering the secret U.S. military operation, Reuters interviewed more than two dozen current and former U.S officials, military contractors, social media analysts and academic researchers. Reporters also reviewed Facebook, X and Instagram posts, technical data and documents about a set of fake social media accounts used by the U.S. military. Some were active for more than five years.

Totally stupid and totally evil.

Trump want to use a cognitive test for him and Biden.

Why doesn't Biden ask for ChatGPT AI to assess each of their English language skills over time?

In other words take verbatim adlibbed TV interviews 20 year ago, 10 years ago and now, and ask ChatGPT to treat it like a student's essays. Completely fair and unbiased.

Trump would have an unbiased brain to score both their brains. Sorry Trump: no ghost-writers allowed. This isn't school or writing "Art of the Deal" after all.

Trump once said "This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish."

Biden speaks a tiny bit of Spanish on rare occasions with staff, so Trump should have the advantage seeing he only speaks English, and has "big brains."

Saw this on Instagram, although it looks like a repost from Twitter/X/whatever Elon wants to call it this week:

Quite sad/depressing to see how badly Trump makes the American people turn all tribal and against each other, all in the name of, well, him 🙁

RawStory - Trump's latest pitch to GOP lawmakers would plunge the country into 'chaos'

16 June 2024

As MSNBC's Zeeshan Aleem wrote, the former president wants to throw out the current progressive tax system where the rich pay more and replace it with a system where the government would be entirely funded by receipts from tariffs.

"Trump floated the idea of imposing an all tariff policy that would ultimately enable the U.S. to get rid of the income tax"

"That is, Trump reportedly discussed abolishing income taxes and making up for all the lost revenue purely through taxes on imported goods," the analyst wrote before adding the result would be "catastrophic for the economy and ordinary Americans."

Economist Adam Hersh compared the pitch to "dropping a nuclear bomb on a hurricane."

As Hersh explained to MSNBC, "... to make up for the roughly $4.2 trillion in revenue generated through income taxes, the across-the-board tariffs would have to be somewhere around 120% or 130% on incoming goods. In other words, consumers would effectively have to pay an additional sales tax of up to 130% on any imported item."

" ... [Trump's] proposal would destroy the wallet of the average American, throw the global economy into discord and provide a huge monetary boon to the wealthy."

The Stable Genius is an economic moron.  😦

Trump reportedly called the late Senator John McCain a “loser” for being captured during the Vietnam War. McCain was a Navy veteran and endured five years as a prisoner of war.

On at least two occasions, Trump allegedly referred to former President George H.W. Bush as a “loser” because he was shot down as a Navy pilot during World War II.

So I can see why a proud Naval veteran would not like to hear how Donald "I've got foot spurs" Trump is a hero.

Trump has mostly been evil over good.

In the Oct. 1, 2017, Las Vegas mass shooting, 12 of the rifles the gunman had in his 32nd-floor hotel room were each modified with a “bump stock,” an attachment that enables a semiautomatic rifle to fire faster.

Within a week after the massacre, the National Rifle Association announced that it would support tighter restrictions on such devices.

The bump stock allows a weapon to fire at nearly the rate of a machine gun without technically converting it to a fully automatic firearm.

Because when you're hunting, you want to be your AR-15 firing less than one shot per second improved with a bump stock firing up to 13 rounds per second, all legally acquired without a special license.

Trump banned bump stock in 2018.

The US Supreme Court just overruled that ban.

In Wyoming, you have to be 18 years old but otherwise there's literally no gun licenses or registration. Of course you can cross state lines legally once you've purchased it, with exception of a few (West coast states like California, and some east coast states like New York)

Ironically Trump can't purchase a AR-15 even in Wyoming because he's a convicted felon. Oh the irony.

AlterNet - 'Pyongyang in the rotunda': GOP red carpet rollout for Trump’s DC trip likened to North Korea

14 June 2024

Donald Trump’s first return to Capitol Hill since the violent and deadly January 6, 2021 insurrection he fomented elicited responses of celebratory embrace, near-coronation, and a whitewashing of history from House and Senate Republicans and some of the mainstream media. ...

Award-winning journalist Steve Silberman called the AP’s post, “an instant candidate for the Museum of American Fascism.” :

New York Times guest essay: Trump Isn’t Choosing a Running Mate. He’s Casting a Co-Star.

The public jockeying by various candidates to become Donald Trump’s running mate has taken on the air of a circus. At the Manhattan criminal courthouse where he was being tried for falsifying business records (and was found guilty on all 34 counts), a parade of acolytes appeared, often wearing Trump-red ties, in apparent hopes of impressing their potential future ticket mate: Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, Senator Rick Scott of Florida, Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, the businessman and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and others.

Aspiring contenders clamored for camera time, made public declarations of support and later posted on social media about the injustice of the verdict. Mr. Trump has invited other potential running mates, such as Senator Tim Scott, to join him at his rallies, where they often serve in the role of a hype man, introducing the main attraction in glowing terms.

A traditional vice-presidential search happens discreetly, with possible picks lobbying behind the scenes and through proxies while publicly downplaying their interest. Mr. Trump’s search is playing out more like a cattle call audition.

But Mr. Trump is always governing for the cameras — his favorite constituency. Viewed through that lens, his veepstakes make much more sense. The process is playing out in public, with unvarnished careerism on view, in the familiar form of a reality show. Mr. Trump was America’s first reality-TV president, and now he’s reviving the hits: He’s turned the veepstakes into a reboot of “The Apprentice.”

You can't argue with logic like that.  Why not?  Hang the expense.  (Trump doesn't pay taxes.)  🙃

https://www.thebulwark.com/p/jd-vance-wanted-a-constitutional

A look at James David (JD) Vance and why he is probably near the top of Trump's potential Vice President list. This comment from him towards the end is quite telling:

In case you’ve somehow forgotten, here is Donald Trump’s narrative of what happened in the 2020 election: He defeated Joe Biden easily—or he would have, if it weren’t for dastardly Democratic cheating across a suite of swing states, which resulted in untold Trump votes going uncounted and untold phony Biden ballots counted from thin air. He and his lawyers had unbelievable heaps of evidence proving this fraud—but election officials and the courts were too cowardly to let them win their cases. Result: Biden to the White House, Trump to Mar-a-Lago.

This narrative has taken an almighty pummeling since the day Trump and his allies first rolled it out, for the simple reason that every specific accusation of fraud they tried to bring forward collapsed at the first whiff of scrutiny. Their lawsuits crumpled by the dozens. Their promised reams of definitive evidence kept going up in smoke.

Vance knows all this, and he knows Douthat knows it, too; he’s too slippery to try to fight the battle on this hill. So, in his telling, Team Trump’s post-2020 lawsuits become “the Jenna Ellis legal clown show”—as though it wasn’t Trump leading the charge, but some random outside lawyer. (Not just any outside lawyer, either—one who last year abandoned Team Trump to admit many of her post-election claims had been lies and later went on to endorse Ron DeSantis for president. In other words, a very good scapegoat for a VP hopeful performing for an audience of one.)

Straight out of the orange buffoon's playbook. Things don't go your way? Easy, blame someone else and play the victim yourself. But will voters ever tire of it?

NBC: Trump confuses the name of his doctor when bragging about taking a cognitive test

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday confused the name of his former White House physician just moments after he said President Joe Biden should take a cognitive test.

The mix-up happened as Trump bragged that he had "aced" a cognitive test. Trump also criticized Biden, saying, "I think he should take a cognitive test like I did."

"I took a cognitive test, and I aced it. Doc Ronny — Doc Ronny Johnson," Trump said, confusing the name of his White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, now a member of the House. "Does everyone know Ronny Johnson, congressman from Texas? He was the White House doctor.”
...
Trump, who turned 78 years old Friday, frequently tried to paint Biden, 81, as mentally incompetent.
