SaltyNZ: Oooooh that needs the "IS WOKE / Everything I don't like is woke" treatment like the Ladybird one about engines.

I think there's going to be an innate conflict between giving it this treatment and not giving it that treatment because of who the subject is.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/sep/06/authoritarianism-roots-origin

Interesting article about the roots of authoritarianism and how this applies to Trump

"The human infant enters the world with the implicit expectation of being safely held, seen, heard, physically protected and emotionally nourished, her feelings welcomed, recognized, validated and mirrored. Given such an “evolved nest”, in the apt phrase of the psychologist Darcia Narvaez, we develop and maintain a strong connection to ourselves, a deeply rooted confidence in who we are, a trust in innate goodness present in the world and an openness to love within ourselves, as without. Trauma represents a disconnect from these healthy inclinations, in extreme cases a defensive denial of them as being too vulnerable to bear. And that, in essence, is what fascism is on the emotional level: a desperate escape from vulnerability.
The forces of loneliness can cause political instability and threaten democracy.

Looking at the hideous demigod of fascism, Adolf Hitler, or at his present-day caricature Donald Trump, who is often compared to him – including some years ago by his current vice-presidential running mate, JD Vance – we find many remarkable characteristic similarities: relentless self-hypnotising mendacity, mistrust bordering on paranoia, devious opportunism, a deep streak of cruelty, limitless grandiosity, unhinged impulsivity, crushing disdain for the weak.

Both had grown up in homes headed by abusive fathers, with mothers impotent to defend their children. In Hitler’s case, the bright and sensitive child suffered merciless violence. Trump was subjected to the ruthless emotional dictatorship of a father, Fred Sr, who Mary, Donald’s psychologist niece, describes as a “sociopath”. “Donald Trump is a poster boy for trauma,” the eminent trauma psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk told me.

In both cases the rage and hatred represent eruptions of the forbidden and therefore repressed emotions of childhood and the compensations of a psyche pulverized into insignificance. In turn, as the biographer Volker Ullrich writes: “Hitler ... gave the decisive signal for Germans to give free reign to their hatred and destructive desires.” He spoke to and promised to redeem those masses in his nation who also experienced themselves as threatened and insignificant to “make them great again,” if you will."

gzt:  ... I was browsing children's books recently and found some great bedtime reading perfect for Trump's age level!

Don't forget this masterpiece:

A Ladybird Book For Grown-Ups by J.A. Hazeley and J.P. Morris, 2019

“People are saying I’m the best President ever,” says Donald.
“People are saying I’m very, very intelligent,” says Donald.
“People are saying my approval ratings are the highest ever,” says Donald.
    All these People are Donald.

CNN: Donald Trump’s social media stock closes at a record low after his rocky debate performance

Wall Street sure is acting like Donald Trump lost the debate Tuesday night.

Investors swiftly penalized Trump’s social media business following the former president’s widely panned debate performance. Other so-called Trump trades, including bitcoin and Coinbase, went into reverse Wednesday, while bonds and Asian currencies rallied. And some funds that own solar and other clean energy stocks rose sharply.

Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group plunged 17% Wednesday to the lowest level since the Truth Social owner went public in late March, before ending the day at a record low, down 10%.

The sharp selloff represents an immediate reaction to the ABC presidential debate, where Vice President Kamala Harris successfully threw Trump off his game.

It’s the exact opposite of the reaction in Trump Media’s share price on June 28 after President Joe Biden’s disastrous performance in the CNN debate. Trump Media initially spiked 10% that day, before fizzling and ending in the red.

Trump Media has at times become a way for traders to bet on the political fortunes of Trump and the chances he returns to the White House.

kingdragonfly: Trump 9/11 story has shifted substantially over the years. He has given three other locations scattered throughout two states, and claimed he was a "first responder."

Laura Loomer is a right-wing activist and former Republican presidential candidate. Even now, she is still part of Trump entourage.

Loomer has a long history of offensive remarks. Last year she posted that 9/11 was an “inside job.”

Trump’s advisers have often tried and failed get Trump distance himself from her, stymied by Trump himself.

Of course Donald Trump brought her along in New York and Pennsylvania as he commemorated the anniversary of the attacks.

She posted this to Twitter/X shortly beforehand

"If @KamalaHarris wins, the White House will smell like curry.

The White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand."

The Washington Post - Opinion - No debate  (11 Sep 2024)

The NY Times - Breaking news: Trump says he won’t debate Harris again

Donald Trump posted on Truth Social two days after a face-off with Kamala Harris in which he was widely criticized for delivering a poor performance.

Harris’s campaign said it raised $47 million in the 24 hours after the debate.

“KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD.  THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”

michaelmurfy: They're Eating The Dogs - Trump vs. Harris ft. Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Here's the original video, From the New York Times.

Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt is an American actor, in 500 Days of Summer and 50/50

This is very much off topic, but the company "Juice Burger" -- is that a real company? Google has turned into such a garbage search engine that I can't spot it in all the ads trying to sell me a burger.
