The NY Times - Trump Safe After Shooting Reported at His Golf Course

breaking

Golf Course West Palm Beach on Sunday while former President Donald J. Trump was at the course, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said, but officials said that Mr. Trump was safe and that the intent was unknown. ...

Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that a shooting took place “on the grounds” of the Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach while Mr. Trump was present.

A “person of interest” has been detained, she said.

EDIT:  (update)

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said it was investigating what appeared to be a second assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump.

Trump was on the course, a few hundred yards away, when Secret Service personnel opened fire on a suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle and was later taken into custody, law enforcement officials said at a briefing.

A rifle with a scope was recovered from the bushes, officials said, along with a camera.

Many have said

"Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat"

Or in Trump's case

"Be overbearing in victory and vicious in defeat"

Ohhh Sooo Presidential Mr Trump.

Norman Kirk

“Basically there are four things that matter to people: they have to have somewhere to live, they have to have food to eat, they have to have clothing to wear, and they have to have something to hope for.”

Mike Moore had another Norman Kirk quote, said differently or a different remembrance that Jacinda Ardern quoted.

‘someone to love, somewhere to live, somewhere to work, and something to hope for’

J.D. Vance and Donald Trump.
Seems they are going for, all you need it somewhere to hate , something to hate and someone to hate.

Leadership Yeh Right.

There was someone deep in USA Evangelical movement who despaired over what it is today, compared with what it was.
Close to Billy Graham etc who noted.
The wealth Preachers distorted the movement finding that hate and prejudice filled the coffers better than good deeds, forgiveness and love.
Jerry Falwell and others leapt on this to generate wealth by farming hate and prejudice.

I might add
Now Trump completes the corruption as so many queue up to call him chosen on God and ask him who to hate next.

“My father is running out of lives here,” son Eric Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “How many more rifles are going to come within assassination distance of my father?”

He does realize that his father endorsed and signed legislation that rolled back some Obama-era regulations on gun purchases and ownership.

Trump has maintained a close relationship with the National Rifle Association (NRA), which has historically opposed stricter gun control measures. His policies often reflected the NRA's influence, supporting gun rights and opposing significant legislative changes aimed at controlling assault-style weapons.

Eric Trump has been a vocal proponent of hunting, including big-game hunting expeditions, such as African wildlife, which have sparked controversy.

He and his brother Donald Jr. have been criticized for hunting trophies like elephants and other big-game animals.

Eric Trump claims that his hunting practices are part of a broader conservation effort. This is contested by many conservationists who believe that trophy hunting does not align with sustainable conservation goals.

So my answer to “How many more rifles are going to come within assassination distance of my father?” is like asking someone whose house is infested with spiders "How many more spiders are going to come into my living room?"

You can't stop every spider from getting into your house, but there's a lot you can do to discourage them.

Excellent site for brief, yet accurate and informative, reports on current American politics:

But those spiders are our constitutional right to own, how dare you want to take away our spiders, even the really dangerous ones that are deeply territorial and can kill humans....

I've been collecting funnelweb spiders since I was eight years old. My dad always taught me how to safely handle funnelwebs. He was tragically taken away from us when I was twelve after being bitten multiple times by the neighbour's funnelweb spider. This just goes to show how important it is to be a responsible funnelweb owner. People who leave their hungry funnelweb spiders in old gum boots are giving proper funnelweb spider owners a bad name.

When kept in a proper glass jar with a lid, the chances of death or serious injury are practically none.

Off subject, but 22 calibers are sometimes called "plinkers" and traditionally that Americans would own these as their first gun because they are mistakenly consider safer. (They are definitely deadly)

It's almost impossible to get any figures of any kind for the humble 22, but it is estimated sales are four 22 bullets for every American sold every year, making up about only 19% of the total ammunition market, 1.5 billion bullets per American per year.

In 1970, in Chicago between 33% and 38% of all gun attacks were the small caliber 22's, about twice as much as their market share.

in 2022, the ATF estimated 22's used in crimes are now down to 7%, and over 90% are now larger calibers.

So it's not just bigger cars and trucks preferred by Americans. Americans love big caliber guns also.

Ugh, who would want to buy an American these days? You can get so much better value elsewhere...

Depressingly, yes. Remember, almost every poll in the world said in 2016 that Hillary was going to win (some by some fairly significant margins), but we all know what happened next.

However, this time around it's a lot closer, so I wonder if this will increase Kamala's turnout as a result?

I can imagine a fair few people in 2016 thought, "oh, Hillary's going to win, she doesn't need my vote". Hopefully those voters aren't thinking the same way this time around 🤞

This time though there's quite a few Republicans who will either vote for Kamala Harris, write in their own choice or not vote at all.
