The Washington Post - Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 gaslighting  (18 Oct 2024)

As Anne Applebaum points out in The Atlantic, Trump uses the language of Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini to rouse hate and violence.

This, while calling Jan. 6 a “day of love.”

It's true enough. Like all of Trump's days, it was another day of self-love.

If he wins, he might even make it a national holiday. "The day true patriots took America back from the elites".

It's always nice to point out that this "President" is an idiot.

I've seen a video of him doing this song at a smallish gig, where everyone is singing along...it's brilliant.

He didn't "stop at Pennsylvania McDonald's".

It was staged. The store is owned by a supporter and was closed just for the stunt.

.. and I expect a bunch of zero-hour-contract workers missed out on a day's work and pay.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Not mentioned in article, Trump's visit also blocked the single road available to emergency workers in the hurricane devastated town for several hours.

Trump shows off his McDonald’s fry cook pin while surveying hurricane-ravaged North Carolina: The Independent
...
Former President Donald Trump showed off a McDonald’s fry cook pin given while he surveyed hurricane damage in North Carolina that left dozens dead.
...
The former president used his visit to survey the damage to once again push baseless notions about the federal government’s work to help communities recover after the storm.

The former president and some of his fellow Republicans have faced criticism for pushing false claims regarding the recovery effort. It has now been three weeks since the state was devastated by the hurricane.

Trump appeared for a press conference in Asheville on Monday, claiming that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had been underfunded by the Biden administration.

“The power of nature, nothing you can do about it. But you got to get a little bit better crew in to do a better job than has been done by the White House because it’s not good, not good,” Trump said.
...
During the shift at the McDonald’s, Trump wore an apron and received a short demonstration of how to work the fry station. He then stuck his head through the drive-thru and handed out a number of orders, chatting to supporters who were picking up their meals.

Workers for the fast food chain shared their opinions in the Reddit thread r/McDonaldsEmployees, and it was noted that not only did he appear to violate several rules, but the visit was short.

Reddit user Rofflewafflelol wrote: “Great, so he passed out bags of food for 5 minutes for a photo op..... now let’s see him actually take on the responsibility of a full shift every day for a few years.

“This is cosplay and insulting to people who have actually worked any amount of time in their lives.”

See, this is what his sentences should be. Not jail for life. Jail for a couple of years but also, assets stripped, forbidden from directing or owning any companies, and thus forced to make rent for his walk-up bedsit by working shifts at McDonalds till he dies of stress-induced heart attack or stroke.

Rudy Giuliani: Trump minion, former New York mayor.

Even after losing almost everything, Rudy is not forgiven for anything he still owes. Effectively his wages are garnered the rest of his life, and cannot declare bankruptcy.

There's a tiny chance that Rudy may keep one of his six properties, his Florida condo, if he can convince the federal judge it's his sole means of employment.

Note that while Florida has a state law that you cannot lose your primary residence in a civil case, this is a federal case, and state laws don't apply anywhere.

Also Rudy's son is claiming he was gifted several items shortly before Rudy was found guilty. This gifting to relatives to avoid civil damages is a VERY common grift that judges have seen thousands of times. It's unlikely to work.

He has seven days before the federal marshals show up throughout the US. Trust me they are completely heartless, and will use brutal force with the tiniest provocation.

In a funny twist, Rudy billed Trump for 2 million dollars, but failed to collect (literally begged the judge to forgive Trumps' debt). The two black woman inherit that, and will go after Trump for that 2 million, an easy win.

[Trump minion, former New York mayor] Rudy Giuliani must turn over $6m NYC apartment to election workers: BBC

A judge has ordered Rudy Giuliani to turn over his Manhattan apartment and other valuables to two Georgia election workers as part of a defamation lawsuit.

Last year, the two election workers - Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss - successfully sued Mr Giuliani for over $140m (£106m).

Mr Giuliani, a former attorney to Donald Trump, had falsely accused them of tampering with votes during the 2020 presidential election.

In addition to the apartment, the federal judge ruled on Tuesday that Mr Giuliani must turn over his watches, furniture and sports memorabilia to Ms Freeman and Ms Moss.

The judge also ruled that Ms Freeman and Ms Moss are the beneficiaries of $2m that the one-time New York City mayor says Trump's 2020 presidential campaign still owes him.

Ms Freeman and Ms Moss asked a court last month to seize some of Mr Giuliani's assets, including multiple properties in New York and Palm Beach, Florida, as well as dozens of luxury watches, a Mercedes-Benz and other personal items.

They also sought three of his New York Yankees World Series rings, one of which is valued at roughly $30,000.

In the 24-page order released on Tuesday, the judge ruled Mr Giuliani must turn over more than two dozen watches and a jersey signed by former New York Yankees centre fielder Joe Dimaggio.

The judge deferred judgment on the World Series rings and the condo in Palm Beach.

Mr Giuliani has seven days to turn over his possessions, including the luxurious Manhattan apartment, which he previously tried to sell for $6m, according to BBC's US news partner CBS.

Mr Giuliani was stripped of his legal credentials in July after facing legal trouble for making false statements about Trump's 2020 election loss.
