To be the next attorney general, Gaetz would need support of at least 50 of the 53 Republicans in the next Senate (plus the tiebreaking vote of Vice President-elect JD Vance).

That could prove to be tricky.

“I don’t think it’s a serious nomination for the attorney general,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), one of the more moderate voices in the Senate, The Washington Post’s Dylan Wells reported.

“I think he’s got his work cut out for him,” Sen Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said, The Post’s Liz Goodwin reported.

When a new president takes office, the Senate’s main job is to confirm - or oppose - people the president nominates to serve in key government roles. But Trump told Republican senators that they need to step aside when he gets into office so he can unilaterally select his leaders.

On Wednesday, Republicans picked their next majority leader - Sen. John Thune of South Dakota.

Thune has not said he would allow Trump to hold recess appointments, but he did tell Fox News Digital that “all options are on the table.”

Maybe Judge Cannon will get it, after all her hard work. 🙄

I don't think so. It is unlikely to be interesting enough to attract any attention. I count two or three scandals.
