CNN: Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) once again reported that all parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -- including Iran -- are in full compliance with the agreement. This marks the 8th time the agency, in its regular reports mandated by the JCPOA, has confirmed that the nuclear deal is working -- and it must be noted that since the implementation of the JCPOA, not once has the agency found Iran to be out of compliance.

The deal took the threat of a nuclear Iran off the table, but President Donald Trump seems ready to ignore the evidence and declare Iran out of compliance in defiance of all the experts. US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley even made the case for the withdrawal from the Iran deal on Tuesday.

Thats good news. if the US want to withdraw from the deal so be it. IAEA can manage it itself. Its things like this that need to happen more often, Trump gradually diluting US involvement in international affairs, leaving them to nations that have a normal leader.

IMO NK never responds, they start something so others respond

If they took a period and just kept quiet, no launches, and see what happens. Then it becomes a lot easier for the west to look at talks.

Merkel says it's time to talk:

NYTimes: She made a parallel to the multilateral talks with Iran over its nuclear program. Those talks were begun by the Europeans and later expanded to include the permanent five member states of the United Nations Security Council, plus Germany, and chaired by the European Union’s foreign policy chief.

In the end, the Iran talks became predominantly a negotiation between the United States and Iran. But they were supported and confirmed by the others, which gave Washington cover for sensitive talks with Tehran.

Ms. Merkel called that negotiation period “a long but important time of diplomacy” that ultimately had a “good end” last year, referring to when the deal was put in place.

“I could imagine such a format being used to end the North Korea conflict,” she said. “Europe and especially Germany should be prepared to play a very active part in that.”

In the meantime, while its a good stance from Germany and Europe, the US wants more sanctions as does China, these have been watered down for China and Russia, and should they go ahead, as supported by the West, China and Russia, NK just wants to ignore the many other supporters and focus on the US. Its a rogue state. Cannot be compared to Iran in terms of ability to talk and negotiate

"The DPRK is ready and willing to use any form of ultimate means," the statement said, referring to the country by its acronym.

"The forthcoming measures to be taken by the DPRK will cause the US the greatest pain and suffering it had ever gone through in its entire history."

Sanctions seem quite watered down. Oil hasnt been touched other than to keep it at current levels. I would suspect NK to have massive volumes stored as contingency.

I am not sure North Korea has the financials to have purchased for storage massive volumes of oil. Its GDP is only circa $26 billion. Its foreign trade is less than $10 billion

And a succession of useless US presidents have kicked the can down the road without working for a final peace treaty. Obama told Trump that North Korea would be his biggest problem. Wow what an intellect.

The security council also resolved a restart of the six party talks.

Those were about preventing development. Now that DPRK has nuclear it seems unlikely DPRK will go into talks that require it to give it up.
