I hope I don't live long enough to see something like that ever again.

Regrettably, there is still a minimum of 3 years and 10 months to go ...

Can't help but think the world has now changed in a way that wil impact generations.
It will ripple though here as well.

J D Vance, Peter Thiels acolyte seems to be setting the stage to continue the Trump legacy.

His problem is how to out Trump, Trumps children who carry the name.

Barron seems to be a pal of the TechBros, some memcoins to show his dad the future of grift.
So that would be a tough act, especially given his age assuring that, you will never need to vote again will last.

Term limits are for the Woke.

gzt: ...I'm not at all sure that the ad dept under the previous owner would have accepted something of that nature [the 'Fire Elon Musk' Ad] for publication.

In the Washington Post, during a southern gubernatorial race, Republican candidate Ed Gillespie ran advertisements linking his opponent to violent gangs like MS-13.

It was much, much worse the "Fire Elon Musk", considering that Elon Musk is unelected.

The print ad has more or less disappeared from everywhere, for good reason, but a screen snapshot from the video still remains.

The screengrab above with the words "Kill, Rape, Control" appears to be quoting a Washington Post article published 17th June 2017.

Those words appear in a Washington Post article about the MS-13 gang. The video advertisement presumably refers to that article.

Your claim is that there was a similar print campaign for the Republican candidate Ed Gillespie, and that it ran in the Washington Post.

Republican Ed Gillespie's in 2017 ran a MS-13 attack ad on his Democrat rival.

But you're right. The Washington Post reported the ad's release and its political context, but didn't in fact publish it.

The editorial board condemned the ad, stating that Gillespie's campaign "has twisted truth to suit his purpose, and pandered to nativists in the Republican base."

I got confused because the ad itself did not appear in The Washington Post as a paid placement. They provided significant coverage and analysis of its content and the surrounding controversy.

Sorry.

I think a little humour may not go astray this morning - no doubt next week we'll see the cartoons on the Trump/Zelensky/James, uh, "discussions" this morning. But for now:

The MAGA voting regret I was referring to earlier:

This one is harsh/accurate (moreso after overnight conversations):

(With this last one, I actually had some MAGA fanboy send me something similar during the orange buffoon's first term - obviously a self-written list - to try and justify what a great president he thought he was):

Was more the J D Vance episode. He like some others in this "administration" are anti Ukraine. Trump wasnt the issue as he is dumb. Zelensky explained how Putin cannot be trusted in a signed peace agreement Imany examples which he clarified) . Trump had no clue. JD chimed in, didnt respond but diverted that KEY issue to "you didnt say thanks".

It is all about money and prestige for Trump. NOT about the suffering of Ukrainians and Russians. Nor is it about the political and environmental stability of this planet.

Just the money and prestige for Trump ‼️

😡🤬😖

Yes, making the deal. UKR was up for the minerals deal, but they wanted security protection when Putin breaches the deal, which he will, as he has, many times

Trump and JD ignored that, didnt answer that bleated that you can't do a deal if you call names. Ok if Trump calls VZ a dictator, ok if JD bags EU recently.

Its about likes, the deal and power, not about lives. The right, centre, left os totally irrelevant

Fox News scraping for a win! And then failing.

I imagine we're going to see a lot of MAGA regretting their votes over the next 4 years. Here's another one to add to the pile:

and over

i dont see a generational impact.

USA has main enemies, Russia, China and North Korea.

When he is voted out, Trump is gone . The Dem or GOP POTUS will rebuild relationships. But the world cannot now rely on USA. Russia has a precedent. They can invade and gain territory. Over and over. China can see this as workable for Taiwan and Tibet, its a precedent. Fraught with criticism and angst, but to date, Putin shows that it works. That is the issue. Is NATO or any other treaty relevant? Is it ok for a nation to invade another? Re the latter, yes it is. Yes, UKR is not in NATO, but the US says its unrealistic for UKR to join NATO. Bizarre to the extreme

This guy [Marco Rubio] didn't help either even though he could have said something to help Zelensky, glad to see he got called out for this:

The issue is that Trump is a dictator. Is he like Mr H from WW2, or Kim Jong Un, or Putin? No. In many respects he is, Constitution doesnt matter. Overriding Congress doesn't matter, although they are pushing back. Its about likes, power, the deal and so on. Same as Putin is about his beloved USSR. A country is its population not one individual.

Go Europe.

On the latter point, USA defence budget is 900B, EU is 400B, China is 300B, Russia is 150B

Its workable apart from the fact that EU isnt organised militarily as one nation.

UKR needs to be asked to join NATO. Which USA disagrees with, unsure why. If there was a so called peace agreement, and Russia complies, NATO membership is not a barrier.

Rubio now saying UKR needs to be thanking USA. Cant say anything else otherwise he will be fired. he has thanked the US and EU many many many times.

Go Europe. Step up as Trump stated, do the minerals deal with EU to support that. Allow USA to participate in minerals to respect their contribution.

End of the day a treaty/alliance of like minded nations cannot include the US. US stated they are out, so no issue there.

A Russian state media reporter gained entry to the Oval Office for Trump-Zelensky sit-down: CNN

A member of Russia’s state-owned news agency gained access to the Oval Office on Friday to cover President Trump’s sit-down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – even as the AP and Reuters were barred from the high-level meeting.

The White House said the journalist was not authorized to be in the press pool.

A correspondent for TASS, a Russian state media organization, was among a group of hand-picked pool reporters present in the Oval Office for the leaders’ meeting, which is part of the US’ efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. The testy Trump-Zelensky sit-down may yield a signed deal that would exchange US access to Ukraine’s mineral resources for security guarantees.

Though the group of pool reporters in the Oval Office was hand picked, the White House has denied the TASS staffer was permitted entry.

...for now. I bet it's just a matter of time until the orange buffoon bars everyone except for Fox News, Newsmax, One America, Breitbart. Oh, and any Russian outlet that showers him with praise, of course 🙄
