Those were about preventing development. Now that DPRK has nuclear it seems unlikely DPRK will go into talks that require it to give it up.

No they won't, its past that, well past it. A dog with too long a leash. Dog and Leash should be bolded. Interesting that these latest sanctions are supported 100% including Russia and China. Its easy now when both support NK and its too late. Whats final now is the US can concrete in their building foundations as they are their to stay permanently, which is what Russia and China dont want, but NK does

I like this from the US

Then you get this after Russia suggested

"US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has called the proposal insulting"in relation to China and Russia have proposed a dual suspension of North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile testing as well as US and South Korean military exercises.

WTF? How hard is it to stop naval exercises???? What a bargain? NK is an idiot, the US isn't, this makes you wonder.

Reduce oil supplies by 30 percent. What a joke. Who is going to be monitoring that? China can fudge this as much as it likes & every one sitting around the Security Council table knows it. It is just another useless resolution from the dysfunctional organisation called the UN. Even if China were to increase oil supplies to 110% of current figures what would any country do?

Yep. China and Russia support NK, is they agree to more sanctions and keep supporting NK. US has one advantage, a nuke isn't next door

Care should be taken not to cut off too many supplies. Cutting oil etc to Japan was one of the triggers for the Pacific war. The UN cannot back North Korea into a corner where they consider they have nothing to lose in lashing out.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Isn't NK backing itself into a corner? It is the perpetrator, the others respond. NK wants to be put in that position so it can threaten. Its the same neverending circle which it has managed extremely well. Its please don't upset NK.

Was reading an interesting article the other day on how to penetrate NK's deepest bunkers.

Kim Jong-Un's nuclear stores are hidden deep under hundreds of feet of solid rock. This makes them hard to reach—but not impossible.

Efforts to prevent North Korea's relentless advance toward developing nuclear ICBMs have so far achieved little. There is no end in sight to the stream of tests and new missiles and increasingly powerful warheads. If sanctions and diplomacy fail, what else is there?

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said that "All options are on the table." But a conventional strike against North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities is near impossible. Vital installations are dug hundreds of feet into the sides of mountains, out of the reach of the biggest bunker busters. Now, though, it seems the U.S. has a "game changer," but we don't much about it yet.

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is a Pentagon organization tasked with combating weapons of mass destruction, including WMDs stored deep underground in concrete bunkers, tunnels, and mountains.

Sitting back and leaving this sore to fester is going to end with fatal consequences. Waiting and doing nothing is probably the worst thing that the rest of the world can do. I honestly believe its time to do something about this mad man.

NK is firing missiles. The time for diplomacy is now over IMO.

Peaceful means give him everything he wants as he holds us successfully to ransom. Accept a nuclear NK where he will develope even though his only concession will be that he wont. Give in to a leader who will want all the concessions and give none.

He already has nuclear, so leave it at the status quo, a stalemate. He can develope and test, he will anyway. Nothing will change, so leave it as it is now. he is at least getting the negative publicity he deserves. One day that will be rewarded, then there will be peace

And do you think Russia and China have problems with NK? They are loving it
