Yeah, some MAGA true believer construction company owner is going to spend a huge amount of money buying materials, hiring subbies and so on only to be sent into bankruptcy when Trump refuses to pay and slanders their reputation calling their work terrible and nasty.

Ordinarily I'd be sympathetic, but if you're dumb enough to lend Trump money for bus fare in 2026, you kind of deserve it.

The Strait of Hormuz that the orange buffoon managed to get shut (and later tolled) is now open again - except to ships from Iran - and he's cheering about "fixing" the problem he created? 🙄

https://www.wired.com/story/maga-is-increasingly-convinced-the-trump-assassination-attempt-was-staged/

As Trump’s hold over MAGA has waned, though, an increasing number of his supporters have begun to push the narrative that the entire incident [the Butler shooting] was staged.

"I think that maybe it was staged," Tim Dillon said on his show last weekend about the assassination attempt. Dillon, who was previously a staunch Trump supporter, went on to share that Trump should now come out and say, “Some people are going to be upset by this, but we staged the assassination attempt in Butler to show people how important it was to vote for me and how far I was willing to go for them.”

I personally don't think he staged it (after all, he could have potentially died) but it seems sizeable portion of MAGA now think he did stage it.

The story goes that Trump got the idea for an arch from the Arc de Triomphe.

Perhaps a more representative monument would be Elephant of the Bastille, where Gavroche made his home in Les Misérables.

Victor Hugo:

It was unclean, despised, repulsive, and superb, ugly in the eyes of the bourgeois

It would be a good metaphor for the Republican Party transforming into the Cult of Trump.

Now, the purpose of a triumphal arch is for a victorious army to march through it to celebrate battlefield success, where the commander would ride at the head of the column of troops. That isn't going to happen unless Trump is in his golf cart.

While the rest of the world leaders walked down the Champs-Élysées, low energy Trump was driven by limousine (at least that is a French word).

Trump Completes a Shameful Trip to Paris, Just as He Needs the Global Stage

Trump really needs a parade review dais so all the soldiers can be seen to be honouring him, like in Red Square and his own more recent parade. With an arch, there is no place for Trump.

He had his parade. It was a fiasco. Any third-world dictator has better parades.

Turning Point USA seems to have misestimated crowd size for Vance. Akins Ford Arena less than 25% filled for the vice president.

James isn't quite the crowd-puller that he thinks he is, either.

I was just thinking about Trump's spat with the Pope.

What would he do? Try to cut the head of the organisation? Send missiles over Italy into the Vatican City? Get special forces jump from helicopters hovering over the St Peter's Basilica?

Any option is possible with this idiot. So I will leave it here, just in case, as a prophecy.

It helps to understand that Trump only acts on impulse, doubling down and revenge. There is no long term planning.

Trump:

I have nothing against the pope. His brother is MAGA all the way.

Basically his defence is that there is also this other bloke who is not the pope.

His problem is that Republicans and especially evangelicals are now tying themselves into pretzel knots to justify their support.

Perhaps the next step is that US Army belt buckles will include the motif "Gott mit Uns".

I don't think the idea the assassination attempt was staged is so fanciful. It's a concept that has crossed my mind.

Events that I think make it plausible:

  • I remember seeing photos showing the alleged assassin on the roof with a gun, in full view of security agents, prior to the shooting and no one seemed to be taking any action. It seemed as if they expected him to be there.
  • The massive bandage for what was portrayed to be a minor injury. Playing up the gravity to engender public support.
  • The bandage disappeared quite quickly given its size and the implied gravity of the injury.
  • No obvious scars from the injury.
  • No headline news coverage about the prosecution of the alleged assassin as might be normal for such a high profile assassination attempt.

Real bullets may not have been used, therefore no risk to DJT. The blood seen after the shooting could have easily have been from special effects as used in the movie industry.

I'm not convinced it was staged but nothing would surprise me with Trump and his cronies. I think there's enough doubt to say it was possible.
