FineWine:

Interesting article in Stuff which first appeared, paywalled, in the Telegraph:

‘It’s all a giant clusterf...’: Inside Trump’s floundering Iran peace process

Behind the presidential podium in Cross Hall of the White House on April 1, Trump addressed the nation and told the US that its military objectives were almost complete and that the war was “very close” to being over.

April Fools? 🤔

Trump adjacent news from Hungary.

Hungary under Viktor Orban has been widely described in reporting as an "illiberal state." Democratic checks and balances were weakened, media was controlled, and government funds were allegedly diverted to support political allies such as The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Orban was admired by the U.S. MAGA movement, with publicly supported by Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Marco Rubio.

Now that Orban fell from power, it's a major symbolic blow to MAGA‑aligned politics internationally

CPAC originated in the United States in the 1970s. CPAC USA still exists and continues to be held annually in the United States.

Over the past decade CPAC has created international spin‑off conferences in countries such as Japan, Brazil, Australia, South Korea.

Hungary, which has become one of the most high‑profile international editions. The Hungarian government under Viktor Orban heavily financed CPAC events, helping turn Budapest into a recurring hub.

As Bob Dylan said: in Europe now, and in the USA in six months "The Times They Are A-Changin'"

It just got even crazier in Hungary

Apparently, Uncle Bulgaria is looking to replace Orban's Hungary as a spoiler inside Eu and NATO.|

Bulgaria's pro-Russian former president set for landslide election win, exit polls show
Rumen Radev, who resigned the presidency to contest the election, may secure a parliamentary majority, ending years of weak coalitions and potentially shifting the country to become more friendly towards Moscow.

Fun fact #1: In the United States, bone spurs do not automatically disqualify someone from military service. They only become disqualifying if they cause functional limitations, chronic pain, or interfere with the physical demands of service.

Fun fact #2: bone spur surgery exists, you can still serve in the U.S. military afterward after you recover.

Fun fact #3: There is no public record indicating that Donald Trump ever underwent osteophyte excision (bone spur removal surgery).

Fun fact #4: bone spurs generally become more pronounced with age, in particular when you're over weight, and your activity level is low.

Fun Fact #5: The bone spur diagnosis came from Dr. Larry Braunstein, a podiatrist who rented office space from Trump’s father. Braunstein’s daughters later said their father told them he issued the diagnosis as a favor to Fred Trump.

Trump added during interview below: "I once dared Muhammad Ali to a boxing event, remember he was only 4 years younger than me, but he broke down in tears and refused. He was that afraid of my giant fists." (This last one is satirical, or is it?)

Trump boasts ‘I would have won Vietnam very quickly’ ... despite getting ‘bone spur’ excuse to avoid draft: The Independent

Trump received five deferments to avoid mandatory military service during the Vietnam War

Donald Trump boasted that he “would have won Vietnam very quickly” had he been president during the decades-long conflict, as the U.S.-Iran peace deal hangs in the balance.

The president joined CNBC’s Squawk Box by phone Tuesday morning where he spoke for more than 30 minutes about the Iran war, his pick for Fed chair Kevin Warsh, oil prices and the White House ballroom.

The Vietnam digression came as Trump compared the Iran conflict, which began nearly two months ago, with the length of other wars that America has been embroiled in.

“I just looked at a little chart: World War I, four years and three months. World War II, six years. Korean War, three years. Vietnam, 19 years. Iraq, eight years — I’m five months [in Iran],” Trump said.

“I would have won Vietnam very quickly. I would have, if I were president.”

this was an event titled "Build the Red Wall" featured Erica Kirk alongside Donald Trump as part of a broader push to energize conservative voters ahead of the midterm elections.

What is dominating the conversation online isn't anything that Erica Kirk said. It's how she walked in, which is to say full WWE.

Charlie Kirk built Turning Point USA into one of the most effective grassroots mobilization machines on the right. The product that he built was serious even when it was provocative. Blockchain billionaire Sun takes Trump family’s crypto firm to court
Justin Sun alleged in the lawsuit that World Liberty secretly installed tools to ‌prevent the sale of his tokens. A spokesperson for World Liberty Financial declined to comment.

Sun alleged in the lawsuit, filed in a federal court in California, that World Liberty secretly installed tools to ‌prevent the sale of his tokens after they became tradeable in September 2025. The lawsuit also alleges that World Liberty threatened to “burn” — or permanently delete — his holdings, even while they were in Sun’s digital wallet.

Sun, the Hong Kong-based founder of the Tron cryptocurrency, bought $45 million of WLFI tokens — some 3 billion — and was later awarded a further 1 billion tokens after being named as an advisor to World Liberty, the lawsuit said.

Though a stable genius would know these are only for buying influence.

The NY Times - Tucker Carlson Says He Is ‘Tormented’ by His Past Support for Trump

21 April 2026

Tucker Carlson, who was often at Donald J. Trump’s side during the 2024 presidential campaign, is now expressing remorse for that support, saying he will long be “tormented” by his role helping Mr. Trump return to the White House.

Mr. Carlson, a titan of conservative media who has broken sharply with Mr. Trump over the war with Iran, acknowledged that he was part of the “reason this is happening right now,” referring to the conflict. ...

It’s a moment to wrestle with our own consciences ... We’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be. And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people.”

I find it difficult to sympathize with Tucker's "torment".  🙄

The day before this meeting, Trump posted 11 times in two hours, including
  • the strait was “fully open and ready for full passage” and that Iran had agreed to “never close” it again.

  • the U.S. naval blockade would remain in force against Iran until “our transaction with Iran is 100% complete.”

  • "The U.S.A. will get all Nuclear ‘Dust,’ created by our great B2 Bombers - No money will exchange hands in any way, shape, or form,"

  • "There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust,"
Trump is definitely rationale and truthworthy

Was Donald Trump 'blocked' from using the nuclear codes against Iran?: France 24

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson alleged on a podcast this week that US President Donald Trump wanted to use the nuclear codes against Iran during an emergency White House meeting, but that he was stopped by General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Johnson described the interaction as "quite the blow up." It comes as concern mounts over the US president's unpredictable behaviour, as many lawmakers voice doubts about his mental state.

On an appearance on the Judging Freedom podcast hosted by former Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano, ex-CIA officer Larry Johnson claimed an emergency briefing evolved into a confrontation, after General Dan Caine stood his ground after Donald Trump sought to invoke the nuclear codes. He said Caine "stood up and said 'No.' He invoked his privilege as the head of the military."

[There is] footage of Caine "storming out" of the building
...
The Wall Street Journal also reports that Trump was "intentionally excluded from the Situation Room" during Washington's recent operation to rescue US airmen in Iran. Sources revealed that he was in such a volatile state that he was screaming at his aides "for hours" and military officials made the choice to limit his access, "believing his impatience wouldn't be helpful".

Though it's difficult to verify proof of nuclear strike intent, the gap between Trump's recent war rhetoric and the stance by his Joint Chiefs of Staff has fanned the flames of this viral claim.

Secretary of US Navy fired:

I'd guess because he did not want to do extremely dumb and silly things with naval assets and lives as demanded by Hegseth and Trump.
