Well he already has the anti 1080, and anti gun registration or control inside the ACT tent, so why not more ?

Soooo, Seymour will go to the PM, and say if you give a locked in no mandate date, they will leave. Unless someone can read the future, how can a date be given? Might grab a few more alt-right votes though.

Now, as has already been stated, mandates will stop at some point. I guess when they do this group will see that as a "we won" scenario.

My 2c, I think that's all that should happen though - removal of mandates when they're no longer required.

Winston thinks differently:

"Kiwis who lost jobs due to mandates should be reinstated", he says. I think, "get stuffed". Why should they be? The rest of us did the right thing and got vaccinated for the greater good of NZ society. Why should these people get any special treatment? Because they read some misinformational bs on social media and decided - based on that - to not get the vaccine. Whatever.

Wonder what's on the agenda. Ivermectin and the libertarian right to visit aged care facilities unvaxxed untested and without a mask for no particular reason?

Well I started off fairly well on the side of wait and see/softly softly but am now leaning towards "start dropping the teargas". The threats of towing haven't come to pass so now any threat will not be taken seriously. I see the Picton protest reneged on a deal made with a "leader" at the 13th hour. Am seriously starting to wonder if rank and file police in Wellington are on the protesters side also defense force elements given that oddball publicized request for support thats been ignored. I'm hoping it's all smoke and mirrors #opsec shit

That's some nice conspiracy thoughts going on there. There is much more simple explanations for this, and more likely as well, like... bureaucracy, disorganization, or plain incompetence has slowed down the planned timeline for vehicle removals.

It is a major operation. Better to be 100% prepared and deal with it safely.

They haven't moved a single car since their threat yesterday, some have moved on their own but it's still a major backdown after the Day2 push. Police dont seem to be camera shy at other protests so who's put the brakes on this? Was it all really just hoped that the cyclone would be the end of it?

I think the issue is, QM:

Its too soon

Its too late

We need lockdown, but we want to be paid

We dont want lockdown, so if that screws everything we want to be paid

No matter what is done, its wrong

There is a saying, here are three things, choose two. But many seem to want all three and if not, its someone's fault.

To be fair if you take it as threats, its a war. I have no doubt that teargas and batons would work well, but this isn't Northern Ireland back in the day. There are also women and children there.

If the Police have been too easy, passive, laid back, thats fine. When and if they say at 10am tomorrow all vehicles are being towed and locked up, then no one can say its brutality and harsh. And if anyone is violent they get cuffed and taken away, plenty of opportunity given and not taken.

Take the high road.

Luxon on One News this morning says protests are symptomatic of the frustrations of New Zealanders. That's quite friendly. Also says there are Maori separatists at the protest.. Maybe there are. It's not something I've seen or heard of. I wonder if that's Luxon's misinterpretation of some of the flags.

I've had my car towed before. No one gave me any special warning with a specific time frame to move the car. The car was towed, and when I went to collect it, they said there was a sign and that I should have known.

These protesters are a mix of far-right activists with offshore support (as we see in the Canadian protest) who see Covid-19 as a political opportunity, joined by the kid you knew at school who was always ranting about UFOs and how the Moon landings never happened, plus a mix of activists from non-related anti-government causes.

It would be stupid to give these idiots any indication that they are somehow deserving of special treatment unavailable to anyone else.

The same people complaining about mandates, most of them wear a seatbelt in a car and a crash helmet on a motorcycle. The last time they flew on an aircraft, they didn't smoke and they put their seatbelt on when the seatbelt light came on. Not only that, they probably expected the airline to mandate that their pilot should have a pilots license, should have had some sort of psychiatric evaluation to make sure they are sane and stable and most likely some sort of physical fitness examination, to make sure they don't have a heart attack while they are flying the plane.

Yesterday the police commissioner said if the vehicles have to be towed the owners won't be getting them back. Later in the day the assistant commissioner leading the operation said vehicles will be seized. This sounds different to the usual private towing process.
