Paul1977: Would you be as eager to give the benefit of the doubt if a cis white man made a similar statement about a different demographic?

Would you be as eager to put the knife in if the person involved was a prominent right-wing politician?

In any case, Chris Hipkins may have other things on his mind now. It looks like Stuart Nash is just the gift that keeps on giving.

Nash is toast.

Yes 2020 is a while back, but like M Davidson, we see a glimpse into the personal mindset

I am amazed that he rose to the positions he had anyway. He clearly is not the brightest spark. Maybe someone had been holding him close.

If a prominent right wing politician said the same or equivalent he would be gone by now without question.

Actually I would. I can’t stand when people say something and then either walk it back or offer an insincere apology when there’s backlash. And politicians (from any party) are some of the worst.

I don’t agree with what she said, but she’s perfectly entitled to hold that belief and voice it publicly. She’d never get my vote, but frankly I’d respect her a lot more if she was honest and stuck to her guns.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

The Cabinet Ministers that just keep on giving. Why do they do this to themselves.

Fault lies with the PMO for not properly training new ministers. This sort of stuff should be drummed into them on the first day.

True, but you'd think basic intelligence and common sense would dictate you didn't make public statements like that, especially for areas outside of your area of responsibility.

In my opinion it shows a basic lack of aptitude for the role, and reinforces the view of the lack of competence within the cabinet.

I take your point but mate, we're talking about politicians here.

Not sure a separate thread is warranted but having a wee giggle at the current Greens malaise.

Indeed! First Marama now Elizabeth. Loose lips sink ships.

If they didn’t have Chloe they’d be completely stuffed.

Probably shouldn't have lied to media and tried to lie about it ever happening when they asked her then, because that's a whole different issue.

The Greens told her to go home and stay there, this doesn't reflect badly on anyone but her.
