So, big win in South Carolina for Biden, mostly on the back of older African American voters. Steyer, Buttigieg and Klobuchar have dropped out. Less centrist candidates will probably be good news for Biden going forward.
Who would have thought the moderates all coordinating their drop-outs on the eve Super Tuesday and Warren as the only other progressive staying in the race despite having no path to the convention would harm Sanders. Isn't it funny how that's all just worked out really well for the DNC establishment candidate who was basically nowhere in the early primaries?
Warren has suspended. We're basically down to Biden and Bernie. There seems to be some tension between the Sanders and Warren camps after Super Tuesday so the progressive ticket is not a done deal for Sanders. I can imagine both of them trying to court her as a VP candidate.
This wouldn't make sense for Sanders. He needs to find someone who appeals to voters who don't already support him. That is how they usually do it.

Yes, That is why Obama chose Biden, he was seen as the elder statesman to bring experience and some sense of moderation to the ticket. Often the VP is chosen to bring some measure of support in an area the candidate is seen as lacking. Another failed example was McCain choosing Palin to try to court the female vote. That failed horribly because she was exposed as a terrible candidate every time someone pointed a camera in her direction.

The people who don't want to support Sanders are usually objecting because he's 'too' progressive. He can't take someone on board to mitigate that without compromising his message.
With Warren/a female VP, he at least has the chance to court those who seem determined to put gender concerns before actual progressive politics, and there seem to be a(n un)surprisingly large number of those in the Democrats.
As the talented candidates drop out the US election is becoming very depressing. I have given up following it.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

If you want to be depressed, just wait for another four years of Trump. Giving up is the best way to ensure his re-election. I would have preferred something better than two white male octogenarians, but I prefer either of them over anything from the Gilead side.

Here in NZ there is squat we can do to change the outcome of the US or any foreign election. Worry about what you have the power to change.

Overnight Bernie Sanders has suspended his campaign. Biden will be the nominee. I guess they will now shift focus to choosing a VP and campaigning against Trump.

I don't really watch US politics, but wouldn't the strategic choice be for Sanders to end up in the VP slot?
Biden's team has already indicated they want a female VP. I doubt it will be AOC as she is too radical for them. It will probably be Warren, but it would be nice if they chose someone under 50. I am not familiar with the various governors etc to see if there is a probable contender in there. I had never heard of Tim Kaine before Hillary picked him for instance.
