teens dies after being restrained
I've just re-discovered my copy of the 1992 Bodycount album in which Ice-T sings about the poverty and inequality facing black communities.
Doesn't look like anything has changed for the better in the USA since then.
It's a good album BTW. Blacks doing heavy metal? Yep, that's one of the things they sing about too.

Another obviously morally and legally justified shooting by the cops *rolls eyes*
Usual blue team nonsense is in, like withholding of obvious information like the cops' race, blanking the media, and immoral GOP (aka Party for Racists) lawmakers lining up behind the cops en masse.
Looks like the scumbag "police" force involved has a history of committing cold blooded murder, including shooting a suspect in the head point blank.
The NPR article linked to about the guy executed point blank is absolutely chilling. "Detectives" from the same department then cleared all the cops involved within 48 hours and the then scumbag police chief had this to say:
"The investigation showed that the actions of the officers were reasonable, appropriate and well within Kenosha Police Department policy, procedure, and training. I am fully confident that the officer's actions complied with the Kenosha Police Department's use of force guidelines."
Here's the thing for the uninitiated -- every civilised country on this earth has primary laws that govern when lethal force may be used in defence of oneself or others. Police guidelines are internal and have no force of law. That this "person" thinks it's good enough that the police guideline was apparently complied with, as judged by people with a blatant conflict of interest, speaks volumes. The family of the deceased predictably received a financial settlement but no other accountability.

as i mentioned somewhere earlier, this has been going on for a while. the only reason it's come to light now is that everybody has a mobile phone and their mobile phones all take decent quality video. before access to mobile phones with such capabilities. most events were not recorded and it became my word vs his word

You would think the US Police would have caught up with that and find more intelligent means to handle situations and deescalate incidents. They seem intent to continue to try and extinguish fires with gasoline. Another technique could be maybe better vetting and try some effective supervision to eliminate the racists and idiots from their ranks.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

the commander in chief sees nothing wrong so they carry on under his instructions basically
Quite impressed with a huge diversity of sports teams and athletes deciding that they won't play in protest over the latest homicidal outrage in Wisconsin. I've got no qualms personally with wishing that cop who pumped 7 bullets into the Blake fellow a slow, painful but imminent death.

In some of the video's I've seen, cops are panicky with fear - e.g. the cop who shot Philando Castile. I would say (as well as racism) there are gaps in physiological screening and/or training of recruits.

From what I gather of the situation in the US, the screening process seems to be:
The pay sucks, but you get given a gun, "qualified immunity", and then dumped into a war-zone where the bad guys are armed and there's total mutual distrust. Much of that violent and organised crime a result of the failed "war on drugs", they should have learned lessons from prohibition era - but nope - they did it again - but worse. If you want to work in that environment - then by self-selection the applicants aren't going to be very representative of the community.
I've seen nasty parts of the US, been a victim of crime there, seen the arrest. You'd have to be out of your mind to want to be a cop there. Maybe somewhere in picket-fence oak-lined "Pleasantville" (which most of the US seems to be), but definitely not in decaying urban areas.

I have no personal experience of this but I try to imagine what it must be like to be a cop in an American city where everyone is (legally!) armed to the teeth and criminal gangs dominate. I would be absolutely terrified to stop and approach a car. Half the drivers are probably out of their heads on meth or other drugs and any one of them could be carrying a concealed weapon. This must take a hell of toll on even well-intentioned officers living in constant awareness that every moment on the job could be their last.
This is in no way an attempt to excuse the behaviour of cops who shoot first and ask questions later. Racist murderers deserve no defense. But it might help to weed these kinds of people out by trying to see things from the perspective of those on the front line. It can't be an easy job.

The US has a few chickens coming home to roost all at the same time.
Don't forget this is a country that only 160 years had a civil war over the right of white people to own blacks - half of the country didn't want to give up that privilege and I bet a good portion still miss the 'good ole days'.
Since then the US has sidelined the black population legally and de facto as well. Despite officially being illegal it is a country with enough segregation (e.g. housing) to put apartheid-era South Africa to shame.
There's also been 40 years of neo-conservative economic policies which have served to de-industrialise the country. Decent factory jobs have gone off-shore. There's a large underbelly of poor white people.
Demographics mean that whites are down to 63% of the US population. We know wealthier people have fewer children and poorer have more.
Add to this the entrenched mentality of inviolable gun ownership and it all adds up to a toxic mix of disgruntle if not outright angry sections of the population.
And now comes along Trump who, rather than showing leadership , fans the flames of race war.
I wouldn't want to be living there.

From bad to worse. Terrible things happening in Portland. This is playing directly into Trump's hands. I really fear for the rule of law in America.
