How can they appear in court if they don't follow the rules (masks, etc)? Do they just get their sentence while standing outside? I seriously don't know, how does it work in this situation?

I've read somewhere the Ottawa poiice chief has resigned over his handling (or rather lack of) of the Canadian protesters.

I don't suppose any of ours will fall on their swords once this is over, if it ever is.

After all, once the current lot vacate, whats to stop 1080 protesters, 3 Waters protesters, gun lobby protesters or Maori land protesters turning up and doing exactly the same thing.

As far as I can tell, there have been similar lengthy protests in the past, and there will be in the future, this is the 2022 episode.

Not in the centre of Wellington though I presume.

Canada protests have been disrupting major major traffic arteries for nearly a month as I understand it. NZ situation and level of disruption is very different.

After all, once the current lot vacate, whats to stop 1080 protesters, 3 Waters protesters, gun lobby protesters or Maori land protesters turning up and doing exactly the same thing.

Use of static parked vehicles to block roads as a protest is a new thing. I don't recall any similar incident. In the NZ case I'm pretty sure this arose partly as a convenient place to park cars and sleep. It's clear at least some people were inspired by the Canada thing and those people may well have intended to copycat and block transport. Definitely the police will be thinking about this going forward.

No. But that just makes it more newsworthy. Same deal though.

The washed-up former National MP who spoke to the anti mandate protesting clown-voy wants to setup a new party of his own:

This will totally fail.

The Police won't go in as they will just come back a few days later.

This was always going to happen with mandates on something like a vaccine. Effectively making people undesirables and thinking they will just go and hide away and let it happen to them.

It didn't help either that sizeable portion of the protestors would protest against everything if given the opportunity.

Already proven that you can't do a deal with them.

Anti-mandate protesters refuse to vacate Picton park despite agreement with council

While they see they are invincible ( which confirms everything their leaders say ), and there are no consequences, no chance of change.

Are they anti mandate?? I see signs that are anti vaccine. Ive read Maori separatists, White Supremacists. I also read they fight against each other. So its a protest with no leadership and no direction. Bolded, there are no leaders it seems.

Remove the vehicles, let them stay there, arrest any that vioiate Wellington citizens.  No need for teargas and tasers.

I think those were Luxon's words. I'm pretty sure the phrase "Maori Separatists" hasn't been heard since the 1980's.

Maybe, I dont write the news, but thats what I read in the news. Maybe its like a mate of mine, lovely guy " I don't read the news, I prefer to trust Facebook user xyz123rts784 than the Government and Pfizer"

Maybe it was Maori activists?? In any case its a forum for activists who don't want to know
