If Jones stays then JA will display astonishing inconsistency and hypocracy. She also needs to deal with Lees-Galloway.

She has just said over the weekend that she wouldn't accept Lees-Galloway resignation if given. Seems she still blames the officials.

Despite his own acknowledgement that he didn't read the entire file (I'll guess he barely even glanced at it).

She seems determined to defend her people even without an investigation. It's Andrew Kirton all over again. She is a awful manager of people.

Jones appears to be indicating it was an oversight related to Outlook. That's different to Curren who was in the gun for misleading parliament in verbal answers as I understand it.

This requirement for meeting disclosure appears to be relatively new.

I am just finding the explanation hard to buy into.

Oh yeah agree could be anything. I'm still trying to understand if this whole diary thing is a change in process. It seems like parliamentary questions and OIAs related to diaries have become possible only recently. It's a good thing.

Isnt the real issue over the untruths? They have to answer questions honestly or could be dealt to severely by the Speaker (maybe a left hook outside the house?)

Another day, another bungle.

/me smh.

The Ministry for Primary Industries has yet to put a dollar figure on the cost to taxpayers, but market rates for seedlings put the cost of the order at about $400,000.

The deal between the Crown and the Far North's Ngāti Hine Forestry Trust was trumpeted by the Beehive as the first Crown joint venture in the One Billion Trees programme.

Documents released through the Official Information Act show Jones sealed the agreement during a May 31 ceremony on a Ngāti Hine forestry block, at which he planted a tree using a shovel engraved with his name.

https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/political/375683/shane-jones-fails-to-disclose-61-meetings

Shane Jones has had to correct 20 answers to questions from the National Party after he failed to disclose meetings he had earlier this year.

Jones also arguably misled Parliament - the difference is that these were written vs. oral questions.  Typically, written questions are expected to be answered with greater accuracy because the member has time to research and prepare their response.

The above article concludes with a comparison to Curran's omissions:

Mr Jones' error follows a diarying mishap by the former minister Clare Curran, who was sacked from Cabinet for not properly declaring meetings she had with senior figures related to her portfolios.

Earlier this year she failed to declare a late-night meeting with her preferred candidate for the Chief Technology Officer position, Derek Handley. That after she left a meeting with the former RNZ news manager Carol Hirschfeld out of an answer to a written question from the opposition.

Clearly you don't know the answer to that one. I agree it's an issue. All the same, this omission was raised by Jones' office on their own initiative so I'm willing to give just a little credit for that one.

Dealt with severely by the speaker? Don't make me laugh. Trevor Mallard has barely had a cross word for the coalition despite multiple infringements.

The appointments issue is not a trivial affair. This is part of open government and anti corruption. Every New Zealander should be very concerned about this. It damages parliaments and the country's reputation. This is now two Cabinet Ministers in the Coalition, is this just the tip of an iceberg and there are more incidents waiting to be revealed? That last statement of mine examples the affect these incidents have on perceptions and suspicions that generate. If it generates within NZ it will be generated abroad with our trading partners.

Jacinda Ardern has to take this very seriously and in line with what happened with Claire Curran, Shane Jones must to be relieved of his portfolios anything short throws a bad light on the integrity of the Coalition, Parliament and New Zealand.

I woke to the words that Kelvin Davis - Acting PM was going to be on the breakfast show. I haven't heard it yet, but I can't for the life of me understand, given the number of times he has embarassed himself on the National stage, is allowed to speak at all.

Perhaps if Shane Jones focussed more on his portfolios and less on the running of companies he clearly has no idea about, or keeping records of his meetings as he should be doing now, not only as part of his obligation but as part of normal and fundamental time keeping for himself, we wouldn't be facing down hundreds of thousands of lost taxpayer money for what should have been utterly avoidable.

From TVNZ site " We have hundreds of meetings over the course of a month" Kelvin Davis defending Jones failing to disclose 61.

I don't buy that at all.
