Well duh! You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that Mexico also isn't going cede the river to the US. Maybe the US could lease the river and the space for the wall from Mexico? Probably, if the lease cost was high enough, Mexico would build the wall for them. Would also make a great place for a replacement Gitmo.

They should put it in the middle of the river, then they get half a river each! 

I had a look at the Rio Grande river on Google maps; it's a very long natural separation border. No matter which side this proposed wall went on, WTF would they do with tributaries to the river? Block them off with more frigging walls?

At the eastern end particularly, it meanders all over the place, the course has shifted since it was surveyed, so the border is no longer in the middle of the river, but crosses it many times.

Example below of a farm which is in the USA -  if Trump builds a wall on the border it would be almost completely encased by wall and you'd need to swim across the river to go anywhere - 'cause the only road access is through Mexico. 

The question remains whether Trump is a clever manipulator or just an egotistical moron who got lucky. I still vote for moron.

I wouldn't describe him as a moron, that would be his press secretary. Trump is the consummate capitalist. He is also a show man and knows how to work a crowd especially a crowd of his supporters and he knows all too well hoot poke the bear and what buttons to push.

Are there plenty of other "intelligent" people around who can't string a coherent sentence together in their native language, compulsively lie, and behave the way he does?

I do see some "eccentricity" with some of the smartest people I know, but not a hint of whatever condition Trump suffers from. If anything - the reverse, the smartest people seem to be humble, have a lot of empathy, and are openly aware of their limitations - less "certain" that issues should be seen in black and white. 

I do think there's a tendency where strongly meritocratic capitalist ideology prevails, to over-associate wealth with success, then assume that wealth must be a reasonably reliable indicator of "intelligence". It isn't.

Whatever Trump's IQ (probably nothing extraordinary is my guess), if I was interviewing him for a job (as the voting population of the USA has done), then he wouldn't have got to a short-list. His serious character flaws are so profound and obvious - and have been so for decades.

I would just add that he keeps shooting himself in the foot in truly spectacular ways. Not exactly evidence of cleverness. My vote is still for moron.

Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein had differing views and the later is now considered to be correct does that make Newton a moron? Sir Winston Churchill made some very big mistakes does that make him a moron?

The word moron was used early in the last century as a medical  term describing delayed mental development e.g and adult with a mental age of circa 10 years. That does not describe Trump at all.

There is a huge difference between an adult who behaves like a 10 year old and an adult that due to disability cannot behave differently.
