Facebook needs to be shut down/split up/heavily regulated.

I hate to say it, but "murica".  No problem sending an FBI team half-way around the planet, helicopters, whatever, to "deal with" KDC hosting copyright infringing material.

With facebook's hosting and facilitating truly destructive evil, then we get basically nothing at all, a press release to placate shareholders - but which doesn't contain an apology or admission that they f%cked up big time, and a pile of aspirational BS.

The problem isn't in how facebook operate - it's actually what facebook is.

That's a disappointing response. I'd have thought better of you. It was a violent action taken in anger. The law obviously agrees as he has been charged. He will get a slap with a wet bus ticket.

 

We are heading down a slipperly slope once we start with the "ends justify the means" discussion.

 

Generally, the only slippery slope I see when people use slippery slope arguments (Google it if you haven't worked out why slippery slope arguments are usually terribly flawed) is the precipitous drop in the quality of the debate. Grasp at some other straws already.

But at least they took the content down albeit slowly. Certain Cloudflare hosted sites still have the video freely for download and celebrate having it while telling people to f..koff if requested to take it down.

Hence why those sites are very simplistically blocked via DNS.

It's the social repercussions they vastly underestimate. It's not just the law they need to be weary of. Their job is at risk as well especially if the company they work for employs a diverse group.
