The NY Times - Georgia Judge Orders 2 Trials for Defendants in Trump Election Case

A judge on Thursday granted former President Donald J. Trump and 16 others a separate trial from two of their co-defendants, who will go to trial next month in the Georgia election interference case.

The judge, Scott McAfee of Fulton County Superior Court, has laid out an expedited trial schedule for Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell, two lawyers who aided Mr. Trump in his efforts to stay in power after losing the 2020 election.

The two had invoked their right under Georgia law to seek a speedy trial, in part to avoid the high cost of a more protracted legal fight.

Their trial is set to begin on Oct. 23.

For Trump this is bad news, so good news for everyone else.

Powell has already shown herself as a weasel trying desperately to avoid consequences for her actions.

Believe it or not, Chesebro is not a typical Trump guy. His friend describe him as quiet, undemonstrative person, very low-profile, with a liberal past.

Chesebro is the architect of sending fake electors to Congress from states Trump had lost. It's the equivalent of highjacking a plane and forcing it to fly to Cuba: it only works if you get to Cuba. Otherwise you're going to jail.

Given that Chesebro is has a liberal past and is sneaky, I would expect him also to be a snitch.

I expect Powell and Chesebro to point the fingers of blame elsewhere, at Trump. The good news is Trump's legal team won't be in court to defend themselves.

Moreover anything uncovered during their trial can be used in all subsequent trials.

When Republican Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado got elected you'd think she support inexpensive birth control; she became pregnant in high school, and couldn't afford birth control.

She had her first child when she was in high school. She met her husband at a Burger King. After a four month courtship, they had to get married in Las Vegas. Because of her age it was illegal in Colorado.

She made an eyebrow-raising comment during a House Oversight Committee hearing on prescription drugs.

"I left a prescription at a pharmacy once — I went to get birth control. I was there at the counter, and went to pay for it, and the price was very, very high." She decided it was "cheaper to have a kid."

Unsurprisingly math must not be her strength. Colorado is ranking among the most expensive states to raise a child, at least for the first year. Between labor and delivery, health insurance and childcare, it costs NZD $51,300 for the first year of a baby's life, not far from the median yearly salary.

She is a grandmother at 36. Like mother, like son, her oldest 17-year-old son got a girl pregnant.

It's my strong feeling schools are doing a terrible job of teaching students exactly what racial and religious harrassment is and teaching students exactly why it's a bad thing.
