JaseNZ:

Never mind I read it wrong lol they have 2 days to decide from when being told.

National's emergency vote will be held at midday on Friday, meaning MPs have less than two days to decide who they want in the top job.

No worries. It is another two days of entertainment gone. Probably the most fun version of this would have Bridges surviving and then one of those nasty political guerilla wars happening for another month or two.

Unfortunately National tends to be a bit more disciplined than that with their conformist/authoritarian DNA. The Labour party are really good at gutting themselves from the inside during this sort of strife.

If 1% can pick out Mueller I’d be surprised. By the way the guy challenging Bridges for the leadership is Todd Muller.

i think he's got the biggest jaw chin teeth?

Who can tell?

This is a Muller vs Bridges episode, so they get the numbers they try to. What if others put their hat in the ring?  Wont that dilute the opposition to SB so SB gets through? Its not like its a week long campaign, its today.

I hope whoever wins has a policy platform ready to go in the next week. Otherwise they're just going to be left trying to make people just suddenly not like a PM with Key-esque popularity.

"Well actually she sucks" isn't the big draw they seem to think it is. If that was going to work they wouldn't be in this mess, would they.

Good.  Part 2 coming hopefully with Bennett being replaced by a human being with empathy.

Confirmed - Muller / Nikki Kaye.

Good. I'm happy with this, but would have been happier with Kaye as leader.

Now we just need proper, articulated policy platforms and for them to hold the Labour government to account for not delivering on their promises, instead of just loud opposition for the sake of opposition.

Having new policy ready to go in a week is pretty unlikely and unnecessary. No one will listen to policy at the moment anyway.

The next few weeks will be about Muller building his personal brand and he'll get a fair amount of rope from the media. Policy needs to be ready to go for the campaign. I predict something about roads will be in there...

Just watched SB's press conference. Relaxed, upbeat as you can be. But he shows in that 10 minutes how to talk "with" people. If he had had that attitude, today wouldn't have happened. As some journos said today, its not what he said, its how he said it. At The ERC I made a comment here that he was very good, asking the hard questions, sticking to the issue, the virus. But over time that went the usual way, point scoring

JK had the gift, he could say anyhting, do anything, laugh it off. He caused himself no baggage, so he was never on the outer

JK definitely had the gift. Some of the things he talked his way out, phew!

Yes, why has the party allowed more imaginary-sky-fairy believers to hold seats now, compared to then, while NZ has become more secular

They are now firmly on the outer after today. Look at the comments of O'Connor etc. Alfred Ngaro hasn't posted a thing about the leadership change. They needed to be cleared out.
