USA today is the most bland newspaper in the US. If there's a US newspaper that represent the middle, then USA Today is it.

So this article is unexpectedly harsh of the GOP.

"GOP denies climate change, America pays the price"

He appears to be a very mis-guided and easily influenced man.

There will be some number-crunching behind this - how many votes lost by taking an anti-environment stand vs how many lost if not catering to the denialists and lobbyists.

Compromise position by a POTUS who didn't win the popular vote, has a core support of angry anti-environmentalists, anti-"globalists" etc - aka "extremists"  and a party facing the build-up to mid-term elections.  Trump is trying to hedge his bets.

White House denies US is planning to remain in Paris climate accord. Sounds like more left/right hand miscommunication.

There's been nothing but miscommunication between POTUS and the WH since Trump was sworn in.

Trump is very random.

That denial was from McMaster - National Security Advisor.  It's not his portfolio.

American writer nails Trump in one sentence:

Quartz:

If you own a business that attempts to keep black people from renting from you;

if you are reported to say that you don’t want black people counting your money;

if you say—and not even reported, just come out and say—that someone can’t judge your case because they are Mexican;

if your response to the first black president is that they weren’t born in this country, despite all proof;

if you say they weren’t smart enough to go to Harvard Law School, and demand to see their grades;

if that’s the essence of your entire political identity you might be a white supremacist, it’s just possible.

I do not believe that such a person can make a sensible policy about anything at all.

Ta-Nehisi Coates is intentionally confrontational, but accurate.

Wow, he has Trumped himself in a 40 minute UN speech. While I consider KJU to have far more damaging rhetoric than Trump (slice the yankee arms off etc), he has lowered himself into the same gutter with the UN speech.

"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,"

As loud, startled murmurs filled the hall, Trump described Kim in an acid tone, saying, "Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and his regime."

Rhetoric as usual. MAGA. Bigger crowd ever. Plan to eliminate ISIS in the first days of presidency. Only I can do it.

Idiot.

I am VERY pessimistic of talks getting anywhere. However, perhaps the only way forward is if the globe and UN start pressuring the US, start firing the rhetoric back. Name calling them as having no interest in peace. That may get the Administration targeting Trump more. The UN can reduce some sanctions in defiance of the US and ask China to make sure NK complies. Essentially a move to let the US know this is everyones problem not yours, so back off. The more that Trump gets riled up, the sooner he gets ousted

Authority and authoritarian powers seek to collapse the values, the systems, and alliances that prevented conflict and tilted the world toward freedom since World War II.

Oh wait:

Trump on Duterte, Putin, Erdogan etc:

"You're doing a great job"
