kingdragonfly: Trump and a number of right-leaning press are obsessing on Kamala Harris race.

His own party legal advisor (who was his lawyer in the $465M fraud case, I think hes running out of lawyers, too scared they will end up in jail themselves perhaps haha). What does she mean by “And unlike you, Kamala, I know who my roots are! I know where I come from! And I don’t play around with the Constitution,”

To me if that is verbatim (flashback in my head to floppy discs) she is implying Kamala is playing with the constitution? say what.....

Trump ally Alina Habba attacks Harris over her ‘roots’ hours after the former president questioned her race | The Independent

I think its simply Trump is so old now, and with clear evidence of being a racist earlier in life ie his nephew stating he would use the "N" word, I don't think he can differentiate being Black from being African-American, although technically she could claim that too, her Dad being Jamaican and her being born American. But I dont get why its so hard to Identify as Black, yet identify as having Indian heritage too, but thats just too muc for Trump.

Keep it coming Kamala, those odds have swung big time from 4.50 less than two weeks ago, I thought at that time that was steep given most thought Biden would pass the Torch. But this is one betting platform, others as stated still show odds favouring trump substantially.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Trump and a number of right-leaning press are obsessing on Kamala Harris race.

In particular they are asking the binary question: is she claiming to be black or is she claiming to be Indian-American?

What seems inconceivable is she's both. Harris, whose mother is Indian and father is Jamaican.
...

They have also accused Kamala of being a DEI hire, and only getting "government checks": both are dog-whistles for white-supremist.

If white supremist are so interested in parentage, and government handouts, maybe they should look at their own candidate's and Elon Musk first.

Yes, I am not defending Trumps behaviour. He is a master troll (and has a troll army) and will ruthlessly attack anyone who comes across his path. Look at the carnage during the Republican primaries, and relentlessly attacking Biden and Clinton before that.

From a DEI perspective, don't forget Biden pledged back in 2020 he will choose a female running mate five months before he chose Harris. His formal shortlist ended up being women of various minorities, as there was huge media/activist groups pushing for this. This is pretty compelling argument for the DEI claim.

I am not interested in identity politics, which American media seems to be obsessed over. There is dog whistling both ways.

On that note ... Musk is technically an African American.

Dog whistles can resonate strongly with a base while remaining vague enough to avoid alienating more moderate or undecided voters.

Yes, it is possible to have left-wing dog-whistles with terms like “social justice” or “equity”. These might be used by left-wing politicians to signal support for progressive policies.

When Trump's used one of his frequent dog whistles yesterday talking about "black jobs" yesterday at National Association of Black Journalists, I don't think he was referring to journalists as a "black job." To his base, "black jobs" means various low-paying/horrible jobs that whites won't do.

I know which dog whistles resonate with me, and it's not "bad hombres,” “law and order,” “inner cities,” “the global special interest,” “international banks,” “America First.” ...

I'm surprised you haven't gone deaf with the din of all those high pitch sounds

Remember this event was in Chicago. And the audience was mainly black voters. If you look at any candidate speaking to a particular group, they will always prefix that group when making their promises (unions ->union jobs / teachers -> teacher jobs ....)

So does this mean if any other candidate mentions an ethnicity not their own, they are being secretly racist?  (or is this reserved for the Orange Man)

not quite apples for apples because he is not by birth, where Harris was born in the US. Hence why Musk could not run for president, even though he is by defactor with Twitter.

So Kamala has supposedly now pulled ahead in the General by +4. Where she is losing is the older people. If interested David Pakman on YT breaks it down.

BUT, she is like +24 in Cali, which is a big chunk of people, I go back to the nation wide poll of 12k RV's which was +1. Whilst things are close in swing states, I think she has to hammer them. Trump is even going back to the same venue in Atlanta, will be interesting to see if the crowd responds anywere close to Kamala and how many turn out. She had many outside watching, if he has empty seats that could be telling.

Hopefully this is where the Harris Veep can pull back some "old white dudes and dudettes".

But there is a technicality with who she can choose due to some Governors unable to be involved in further Donor money. I think it rules Kelly and Pete B out. Not sure, but I know there is some issue there.

Trump using young male influencers, I think says it all about having little reach to non brain washed females. Dana white clearly wants tax cuts as the UFC now has competers and the Paul brothers are all Hype. I hope Paul doesnt pull out of that Mike Tyson fight again, Tyson looks like hes taking things very serious and his body shows it. Paul wlll probably run away again while Tyson looks menacing.

I want to know if Beyonce and T. Swift will get back on the anti trump wagon. If anybody can counter Musk etc it would be those two, altough Megan Thee Stallion is huge now, Beyonce has Gen X appeal including males. Will be interesting to monitor their SM accounts.

The room was almost exclusively black. Remember it was the room "National Association of Black Journalists"

"I will tell you that coming from the border, are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs"

With a very loud gasp came from the audience, and the reporter followed up asked to define a Black job, he disingenuously added: "A Black job is anybody that has a job. That's what it is,"

He said there's an "invasion" of people coming into the country, and that "the Black population is affected most by that."

But I have a feeling he wasn't saying

"I will tell you that coming from the border, are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking journalists' jobs. A journalistjob is anybody that has a job. That's what it is,""

Politico is just another media outlet that is Democrat leaning (like Fox news is arguably Republican leaning)

https://www.allsides.com/news-source/politico-media-bias

You aren't going to see any serious candidate polls until after the DNC

There's no "arguably", they 100% are. Granted, they're not quite as bad as, say, Breitbart (who are in a league of their own in the far-right area) but they're definitely birds of a feather.

Yep there aint no Maybe, if Media Bias had another couple of Right side slots, Fox news/Sky News aus would be in there for sure. I like that Pete B goes on Fox though, to at least give white supremicists and 85yo's a little bit of what the Dems are doing in the real world. Sky News australia youtube post count on the US elections is absurd, it should be labelled disinformation Spam.

anyway what I like about media bias is the misinformation charts and recent news too.

Vance the sexist, racist, isolationist and military defeatest = worst Veep since '72 ;-p. Losing supposedly -1 approval per day according to Pakman.

and this Republican Mayor from a border state (arizona) endorses Harris. He is not the first republican to give her the endorsement. I think there is a growing number of non maga Repubs (which is I think about 75% of the party still) who see a way back for their party (to more Reagan esque etc) through bi-partisan positive politics.

I thought abortion was going to be a hot topic, not "being Indian."

From an attack video released by Trump on Instragram.

"Crazy Kamala is saying she's Indian, not Black. This is a big deal. Stone cold phony. She uses everybody, including her racial identity!"

For those who don't know, Meta has lifted the final restrictions on Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts

The ex-US president and convicted felon’s accounts were suspended in 2021 after he praised supporters who stormed the US Capitol on 6 January.

Trump’s accounts were re-instated in 2023 but subject to additional monitoring. Last month that additional monitoring has been removed.

So if you're crazy uncle is telling you about Trump videos on Facebook and Instagram, now you know why.

He's starting to sound desperate with all this black/indian blathering. It won't get any traction with anyone other than diehard Magas.

Once Harris names a nice sensible middle of the road bloke Trump/Vance are going to look and sound even more unhinged.

That was only the physical audience, but broadcast/streamed to millions. Many would be people from the black community.

The interviewer never asked questions regarding the journalism profession, and it wasn't likely to be broached.
