Thank the lord that Johnson is out. Imagine a world where Trump, Putin and Johnson are in power at the same time. 3 Horsemen of the Apolocolypse!

Yep, you could add another horseperson, that is, who ever is PM in Australia. It does not matter who it is or when they are all interchangeable

Haha yeah I feel sorry for Australia they are really getting the short end of the stick with their candidates. Both forerunners make my skin crawl. Makes me feel grateful our candidates who aren't perfect by any stretch are better than the others.

Aside from the hair, it is really not fair to compare Boris to Trump. They are very different people.

They sure are. Given the choice it'd be Boris any day. But the one thing they have in common is a naked ambition to get to the top of the pile and the willingness to seize whatever opportunity comes past to further their goals. Not that having ambition is bad in and of itself, but both these guys detached from reality and fell for their own public image of themselves a long time ago. Coupled with the fact that both of them are very smart that makes them very dangerous.

Yes: I just said Trump is smart. I don't think he is half as much the idiot as he is the showman. He knows everything he says is BS. He just doesn't care. If denying the reality of gravity suited his aims tomorrow, he'd start selling it hard, and he wouldn't bat an eyelid. You could demonstrate gravity by dropping a bowling ball on his foot and all you'd get would be a million dollar lawsuit for defamation. But the second denial of gravity ceased to be useful, he would suddenly never have said it.

Forgot which paper it was, just saw it on Skynews UK and almost choked on my morning coffee.

In other headlines -

Serial rebel, 81, becomes the oldest MP on the front bench since Gladstone:

Paul Flynn joins Labour's top team after 27 years on the backbenches

It looks to me like Corbyn (Labour Leader) is calling on the Home Guard to help man the benches.

Visions of Dad's Army for some reason!

Its seriously ironic that Corbyn's hard core activists are all young but he is appointing grey-beards......

So it appears that Boris was just a pawn and his role in the game is over.

Have we found out who Murdoch wants to appoint as PM - is it going to be Michael Gove, or are there going to be a few more surprises before the dust settles?

Who knows? These things do my head in.

For all we know, Boris arranged this so that he gets out of the job apparently through no fault of his own, leaves AN Other to deal with Brexit and any associated fallout and then steps in for the 2020 election.

Pays not to listen to the media when it comes to UK political strategy.

My feeling is that whoever replaces cameron likely wont make it through to the next general election in 2020 which will be 3 years after the final brexit date. Given the two candidates who are competing for the position, I expect it is a one term leadership role. It was always likely Boris wouldn't take up the challenge if someone else came along, but expect him to be in the media going forwards, especially after november.

In think mr Corbin might get ousted in september, but it would be hard to tell who at the moment would replace him.

I wouldn't even put money on the next general election there making it to 2020.
