SJB:

The only reason anybody would want to vote for Biden is that they don't want Trump. What a desperately depressing scenario if you are an American.

OTH for anybody who is not an American (ie all us normal people) it is a vivid demonstration that the the USA has relinquished the role of 'world leader', a post it has so often considered itself to hold.

Trump's current rating is the highest I've ever recalled.

As usual, you make an assertion with nothing whatsoever to back it up. You might as well say Trump enjoys sex with zebras. It makes just as much sense and has just as much value.

According to Gallup, his current approval rating had risen to 49% as of 28 April. Rasmussen gives him 45% as of 1 May. The rating has gone up, as it has gone up and down in the past, though disapproval is still higher (53% according to Rasmussen). It also depends on which poll you consult, as well as what day.

These figures on their own don't mean much. Trends matter more. And your habit of pulling assertions out of your backside with no sources don't mean anything at all.

Ok, sure. I'm being as factual as wikipedia allows (see prev reply). I don't understand why they don't bring in someone who can compete with Trump. They are sticking with Joe.

That is a valid question. The answer is because the Democrats went out of their way to stage a democratic nomination process with an excessive number of candidates which also didn't help them but which had to be done to avoid any perception of an undemocratic process, unlike what happened with Hilary Clinton over Bernie Sanders the last time. Joe Biden is the candidate because that was the result of the process. The process was as fair as this kind of thing can be. If someone else should have been chosen, someone else would have been chosen. To override that now would achieve exactly what the party has been trying to avoid. The only acceptable way that could happen at this late stage is if proof actually emerged that Biden had done what he is accused of having done.

Trump has made this a non-issue with many voters. The Democratic Party caucus process elected Biden as the 2020 candidate. The majority in the Democratic Party believe Biden is the best candidate for the electorate and win against Trump.

Needless to say there is a lot riding on Biden's VP selection. The smart move would be someone active and technical like Warren who can really contribute both to the campaign and handle technical details of policy development.

No VP has been announced. They will probably do it shortly before the convention. The only thing we know is the campaign has said they want a female VP fairly early in the primary process.

The donor class, that owns Biden, simply will not allow him to choose Warren

Biden in an interview:

told a popular African-American radio host that anyone struggling to decide whether to support him or President Donald Trump in the general election "ain't black."

That's stupid, thoughtless, tone-deaf and almost certainly counter-productive.  He's a liability. Should not be running - it's crazy.
Has a similar ring to Clinton's "deplorables" mistake.  They need to focus solely on Trump and the pack of crooks in the WH - not attack Trump voters and alienate them.

I was watching Biden on Colbert last night. He is a terrible speaker. He fumbles and waffles all over the place, even in a friendly environment when what he is trying to say makes sense. I'm afraid Trump may eat him alive in the debates. Trump doesn't have to make sense or say things that aren't offensive. He is like a bulldozer and just ploughs on regardless. He did this to Hillary and he will do it to Joe Biden.

I thought he was pretty good debating against Sarah Palin in 2008...but that was 12 years ago, and it looks like a lot has changed since then. Plus, she was (or came across as) quite uneducated. But this was in the pre-Trump era, too - although some commentators have said that McCain choosing her set the stage for a Trump presidency.
