Also, what the hell is this about: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a43045845/george-santos-ar-15-americas-national-gun/

And...seeing how far this moron (someone I'm ashamed to admit I once admired) has fallen from grace, nothing really surprises me about him anymore. Maybe he's just desperate for attention now his comic strip is slowly on the way out? https://newsone.com/4521404/dilbert-comic-creator-racist-video/

I had to LOL at this too - mate, I stopped buying anything from you the second you came out with your undying love of the orange buffoon. I figure one guy no longer buying your stuff won't send much of a message to you or hurt your profits - but hundreds of thousands? That's what some might call a movement. Long may it continue (he's actually said he lost about 75% of his friends due to supporting Trump. I guess life must lonely near the top of, uh, the MAGA kingdom?).

The Washington Post - Opinion -  How low can Speaker Kevin McCarthy go?

22 Feb 2023

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) gave exclusive * access to vast video surveillance footage to Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has spread conspiracy theories about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

EDIT

*  If they so choose, Democrats can access all the footage now. After McCarthy granted access to Carlson, Capitol Police officers explained that they are required to release it to congressional leaders or oversight committees that demand it.

This isn't specifically about Trump but one of his fanboys with undying love for him, Dilbert creator Scott Adams who a few of you on here probably know how strongly I feel about him over the last few years:

https://apnews.com/article/animation-and-comics-business-e2266a2356d4159b7f43fdc095be9fcb

I don't imagine he'll be smiling from ear to ear for too much longer - public speaking career ended, income down 40%, number of friends down 75%, all because of his unwavering support of the orange buffoon.

How long until his cartoon is fully dropped everywhere? Would he look back and say "it was worth it"? I know I wouldn't. Trump couldn't care less about him, as well - making it even less "worth it".

For those aware of it the poll asks respondents if they agree with a slogan promoted by white supremacists:

https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbol/its-okay-be-white

Stupid trollish Rasmussen poll leads to stupid results interpreted by an intentionally stupid person who stupidly ignored at least half the numbers.

Rasmussen, from what I understand, are very Republican-leaning with their poll results. I would try something like 538 instead.

And sorry for the repeat rant re Scott Adams - totally missed my earlier post at the top of this page! 😮

The NY Times - Murdoch Acknowledges Fox News Hosts Endorsed Election Fraud Falsehoods

breaking

Rupert Murdoch, chairman of the conservative media empire that owns Fox News, acknowledged in a deposition that several hosts* for his networks promoted the false narrative that the election in 2020 was stolen from former President Donald J. Trump, court documents released on Monday showed.

They endorsed,” Mr. Murdoch said under oath ... “I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing it in hindsight.”

Mr. Murdoch’s remarks, which he made last month as part of the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox by Dominion, added to the evidence that Dominion has accumulated in an attempt to prove its central allegation: The people running the country’s most popular news network knew Mr. Trump’s claims of voter fraud during the 2020 election were false but broadcast them anyway.

* Fox hosts Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo

This might explain why I can't view the classic Dilbert strips in my Pageup app anymore. This will be quite a blow to him - his syndication deal would have been worth quite a bit.

But I'm sure it was all worth it, right? 🙄

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/02/27/dilbert-demise-scott-adams-00084665

The editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, which dumped “Dilbert” last year, said the comic strip “went from being hilarious to being hurtful and mean.” The Los Angeles Times, which joined dozens of other newspapers in dropping the comic following last week’s remarks, had quietly replaced four of Adams’ strips last year.

“He kind of ran out of office jokes and started integrating all this other stuff so after a while, it became hard to distinguish between Scott Adams and ‘Dilbert,’” said Mike Peterson, columnist for the industry blog The Daily Cartoonist.

...

Peterson said there are other examples of how Adams’ attitudes had replaced the biting humor that Peterson and a legion of middle managers loved. Adams seemed to run out of jokes.

“The strip jumped the shark,” he said.

Yes. This encapsulates perfectly what happened to Scott Adams. I think he simply ran out of good "office-based" joke material and started turning to less-amusing (and more offensive) avenues for inspiration. I used to find him hilarious too, but Trump coming into his life changed the cartoon from being what it once was to being something I don't think I'd ever want to read again - not the new cartoons, anyway.

I have never been a fan of Dilbert. Apart from that, do we really need to discuss it at length here? Loud-mouthed racist loses job. End of story. Move on.

I can understand the sentiment. It's just a shame. Ultimately Adams is a guy who has gone all the way down the rabbit-hole and still ferreting around down there.

Sorry, I know, I should stop going on about it. But I share the above sentiment too, it's really disappointing to see him go in this direction and basically destroy all the goodwill he built up over the years with his Dilbert comic, all in the name of supporting someone like Trump.

One last (very fitting) cartoon (for now) describing Scott Adams and what he's become now:

The president of Mexico posted an image “Aluxe,” a mischievous woodland spirit in Mayan folklore: “was taken three days ago by an engineer, it appears to be an aluxe, everything is mystical.”

The elf must have taken a flight, but it was taken in Thailand two months earlier.

It's been speculated that its eyes are stars.

In case you don't know Mexico’s former public security minister, Genaro García Luna, was charged in the US on drug trafficking and corruption charges last week, and stories of Mexican cartels random cruelty is sickening.

It is joked that the current president of Mexico political slogan is "we rob less"

Washington Post: Embattled Republican representative Ogles acknowledges misrepresenting his college major

Representative Andrew Ogles (Republican Tennessee), who is facing allegations of embellishing his résumé, acknowledged Monday that he misstated the degree he received from Middle Tennessee State University, claiming he learned of the discrepancy only last week after requesting an official copy of his transcript.

Ogles said he mistakenly stated that he received a degree in international relations. In a statement Monday, he said his degree was for liberal studies. That is a general education degree typically for those who cannot settle on a major.

Nashville television station WTVF has reported on a wider range of misrepresentations by Ogles about his background, including calling himself an “economist” when, in fact, he took only one community college economics course that he barely passed. The station has also raised questions about Ogles’s representations of having law enforcement experience, including a claim that he handled “international sex crimes.”

Ogles’s congressional website claims that he worked with a group that fights human trafficking, “overseeing operations and investments in 12 countries.” In fact, that group, Abolition International, was not in 12 countries during his limited time with the organization, WTVF reported.

Ogles, 51, was elected to the House in November, representing the newly configured 5th Congressional District in middle Tennessee, encompassing several counties south of Nashville. The outspoken conservative formerly headed the Tennessee chapter of Americans for Prosperity, funded by the Koch brothers, and served as a county mayor. He declined during last year’s campaign to say whether Joe Biden won the 2020 election.
