Here's what I don't understand - Bernie is a "socialist" and Democrats are traditional right wing. So Bernie doesn't fit the Democrats? Maybe he should have run as Republican?

You have it the wrong way around. Republicans are like National, and Democrats are like Labour (for policy).

Think Obamacare.

Actually the Republicans are more like ACT and the Dems like National.  Bernie is like Labor..

Democrats are left-wing in American politics... i.e. they are more "socialist" than the Republicans. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party is more right-wing than most NZ political parties.

If Bernie wasn't a Democrat, he would be invisible.

Both parties are "right wing" by NZ standards.

The Republicans are further to the right.

Republicans are far right, Democrats right of National by NZ standards.

There is no equivalent to the Labour party in the US. Sanders would probably be a member of National if he lived here.

You are right that both the Republican Party and the Democrats are way on the right side compared to most of the worlds political systems.

BUT, I don't think Bernie would for a second think about voting for National. Lots of policies that wouldn't match up there.

Republicans formally nominate Trump

Merely a formality, but he's the man.

He will win the election. He just had a speech, where he said he will make stronger borders, get rid of ISIS and restore law and order. Good plan..... man O man

Some time ago I confidently predicted that Drumph would not be the nominee. Having spent many years in America as a young person, I just could not believe the GOP would stoop that low. I was wrong, and since I would be broadcasting it if I had been right, it is only fair that I own up to my mistake. The Republican party is an even bigger disaster than I ever thought possible.

That country is just crazy enough to end up with him as President. It's a scary few months ahead.

I don't think advanced critical thinking of that high order complexity is a strong suit of the average Trump voter.

I enjoyed the Apprentice for the first few seasons, so I guess his presidency will be the same. I think if he is successful he will surprise many with his abilities.

Lol, yes, words are cheap. I gather from what I've read that so many will just lap it all up.

Radio article, re the speech by Melania Trump, she said this accusation of plagiarism hurts me, my children, and our dogs Sasha and Bo.

The dating site they must have been matched on, nailed it. I think Gee Dubbilya Bush was also a member
