Definitely a bad look with the prime minister and other mps photographed maskless indoors. On the other hand I can understand the photographer requesting masks off for this commemorative photograph and people agreeing to that for a short time. It's something that will last for the young people and hard to say no to. Has to be said, the commemorative photograph should have been better organized and occurred outdoors and not in this tight indoor location regardless.

Interesting that just an hour after the photo was published, Mallard emailed everyone to remind them about mask rules, but goes on to say that the email was not related to Ardern's post.

Can politicians just actually tell the truth? Who on earth is he trying to kid. Would have been a far better look for all concerned that he gave her a public slapping by saying that yes, she disobeyed protocol and has been reminded as such.

In the interests of being kind all public and private slappings have been banned. I thought we all knew that๐Ÿ˜Ž

Definitely a bad look and not the only time just recently where MP's and senior public servants who should be showing a lead have been shown attending events in close quarters without masks. It really does convey the message that the use of masks is really just window dressing, why should the rest of the population bother?

I can understand why it might have happened for that photo but as you say why not have the photo outside. That would have been a smart option.

I took particular note, not one mask was in sight that I could see. You'd think that if the masks had been whipped off just for the photo that the odd one or two people might have had a mask in their hands? Makes you think the masks weren't on beforehand either.

The fact that photo was taken like that, really calls into question the ability of people like our Prime Minister and other senior Ministers/officials to think through the consequences of their actions. This sort of thing isn't that much different to the bike riding escapades of David Clark during the first lockdown. Lead by example guys, otherwise you risk being made to look like dicks.

The dismissed health minister deliberately set out to get some potentially dangerous recreation prohibited at the time for other New Zealanders to ensure health resources were available if needed.

This is very different. The prime minister did something everyone does from time to time. Removed a mask for a few moments for one reason or another before putting it back on again.

So Labour's rejig of Polytechnics which was slammed by critics has unsurprisingly been an unmitigated failure.

https://www.odt.co.nz/opinion/editorial/labour%E2%80%99s-polytechnic-shambles

Some of it was a consequence of other decisions they have made (students not being able or willing to study here), but poor Hipkins has been handed yet another portfolio issue to try and front.

Unsurprisingly, Labour are still trying to blame National to deflect from their poor implementation of a poor plan.

The activity wasn't banned at all. We were all told to stay at home but were allowed to exercise within a small radius of our homes. He was using his motor vehicle to travel to an area away from his home to get to an exercise area and that was the issue and that was what he was sprung for. He was "bending" the rules.

Are you absolutely sure the masks were only just taken off for that photo shoot? The subsequent memo issued by the Speaker kind of indicates that mask wearing might not have been as prevalent as might have been expected.

Whether or not the masks were just taken off for that photo shoot, it shows very for judgement to have participated in or even allowed such a photo to be taken.

How long can he continue to blame the previous government? When will they front up and take some responsibility? They've had coming up 5 years to have done things. If they wish to pass the blame like this then they need to acknowledge the only reason they can use this excuse is because they have done nothing.

Labour would have a lot more credibility IMO if only they stopped doing some things by stealth and where things have gone wrong accept some responsibility. I don't expect perfection, I admire when someone fronts up and says "Sorry we go that wrong but we're going to fix it". This lot just duck and dive and try to make it seem is if they never make a mistake when there plenty of evidence otherwise.

Let's hope the health re-organisation don't go the same way as the polytech deal. We will be in serious do do if it does.
