I just got a smack on the hand for posting a picture of the woman who some may hope becomes first "lady". Fair enough - it was a bit risque.

The term "lady" is a term of respect for a woman, the same way that "gentleman" is a term of respect for a man.

I have no respect for her at all, and wouldn't refer to her as a "lady" any more than I'd refer to Trump as a "gentleman".  Firstly she's supporting a man who regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.

Secondly it appears that she plagiarised the first lady's speech.

Thirdly it appears that she's lied that she's got a degree in architecture, when she hasn't, whatever her other talents may be.

Dulouz:

I enjoyed the Apprentice for the first few seasons, so I guess his presidency will be the same. I think if he is successful he will surprise many with his abilities.

What abilities would that be?

To lie, and then double-down on the lie when called out on it. Perhaps it's considered a useful skill for trade negotiations.

He's also well placed to advise on camouflage if the US ever invades Loompaland.

I hope you're not an American voter. A persona created for a made-for-TV scripted "unreality" soap opera is a poor criterion for the actor's ability to lead a powerful nation.

However, I do agree.... his presidency is likely to be much the same as "The Apprentice". A PR exercise centred on making him look good, at the expense of everyone else. Directed and produced by behind-the-scenes folk who have the real power. Tedium and made-up, meaningless tasks enlivened by occasional chunks of crass stupidity and hyped-up, manufactured tension over non-issues. And I have no doubt there will be surprises, because that generates publicity. But I don't think any of them will be good.

Personally, I think that the very presence of someone on a reality show shows such a lack of integrity and judgement that it should disqualify them from holding any public office.

I kinda wondered if that comment re "abilities" was (hopefully?!) tongue-in-cheek!

My favourite Trump-related news of the week has to be the speaking out by the ghost writer of his 1987 book "The Art of the Deal"; quotes from this include:

“I genuinely believe that if Trump wins and gets the nuclear codes, there is an excellent possibility it will lead to the end of civilisation.”

"If he could go back and do it again, he said it would be titled The Sociopath."

"“Lying is second nature to him,” Mr Schwartz said. “More than anyone else I have ever met, Trump has the ability to convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true, or at least ought to be true.”

Excerpts from http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/donald-trumps-ghost-writer-says-he-put-lipstick-on-a-pig-to-make-tycoon-look-good-a7144706.html

true or not, with another attack in Europe and Trump pulling all the right strings I do not see him losing the election.

If he does win (god forbid) it will be his daughter who puts him over. She is a very impressive speaker. She has probably already doubled his vote count. Think what you like of him, but thrusting her into the limelight was a brilliant tactical decision.
