I am old enough to remember the Cuban missile crisis (1962), when I broke into a cold sweat on a hot day, listening to President Kennedy's ultimatum on the radio.

There is a terrible sense of deja vu here.   🙁

As Ive stated a few pages back, that was a different time. USSR vs USA was far worse than than what it is now, BUT both leaders weren't stupid. Nuclear deterrent worked. Now we have less nukes, but we have Putin, aka, Mr WW2 Germany, Idi Amin, and so on. Thats the problem. Im some ways, if Putin made a mistake and let missiles hit Poland, which allowed NATO to act, maybe that could be a good thing, relatively speaking. Russian people are not the problem, China will not act, its a ONE person issue. As WW2 was. Same emotional bias as well, Putin has his hallowed USSR thing, Mr H had his astrological thing (I think)

Glass half full, if this spilled over, we could get a stable world. The world doesnt need ALL to be democratic as long as the governance of choice was peaceful and for the country.

The significance of this - it is an "official" White House position statement, rather than just the "personal opinion" of the President.

Just more words. Doesn’t do anything to stop it. The troops are only being deployed to NATO countries so only a deterrence to stop Putin going across the boarder. If chemical weapons were used don’t see strategy changing either, except to send Ukraine protective gear. :(

When Biden said war crimes got the impression slip of tongue and not official, as you said at least it is an official position now, but it doesn’t point at the Russian leadership, just members of the military.

Nah in my opinion this segment is misleading.

The Ordinance Officer placed far too much emphasis on brittle truck tyres while ignoring the large pink elephant in the room - the elephant being that the trucks shown as examples were already mired in the mud (Rasputitsa).

Any pincer movements using a largely mechanized invasion force with armoured spearheads while sticking to main roads to avoid quagmire and a 90mile supply line is doomed?
