invisibleman18: I literally said it's unrealistic and my wife who is a hospital worker laughs at how unrealistic it is in the post you quoted. Find it quite funny the government plan to use it to promote nursing when the real thing couldn't be further from how it is portrayed.

Its a TV show, its Marketing, its that simple. Its not the Covid reality right now obviously, but the goal is to engage more overseas nurses, and they will obviously know the lay of the land, Covid and Winter wise. Ive not seen what they are proposing or has anyone? Id assume the lure of small remote NZ is probably the end game.

More incompetent. Instead of making houses more affordable they helped push prices higher or otherwise the taxpayers underwrite the loss.

You know what would have been cheaper than advertising in a non cost transparent way (again)... Fast tracking the applications of the ones that were ALREADY here.

Dozens and dozens and dozens of doctors, nurses, midwives, and healthcare assistants were basically forced to leave because their visas weren't extended or applications were not approved in time.

So much failure.

So much incompetence. The way that has been handled is disgraceful.

Yes they probably do. Most of the money made by the production company is from on-selling it in secondary markets.

First term Labour MP raises bullying of MPs:

NZHerald: Labour MP Dr Gaurav Sharma blows whistle on Parliament bullying, takes aim at officials, party whips:

[Snip] The above Member-to-Member and Party-to-Member bullying rampant in Parliament is - I believe - promoted and facilitated by this very organisation [Parliamentary Services] by working behind the scenes with the Whips Office, the Offices of the Leaders of various Parties, along with the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and the Prime Minister's Office. The Parliamentary Service's lack of accountability to both the MP and their constituents and the meddling of political parties in a triangular relationship where they end up being the fourth wheel is cause for much concern, in my view.

Brave man for raising this. I hope it does some good. Some leaders will question his timing for sure. Having said that, he's not raising any specific personal examples at this time. To the public it will be unclear how this system works. I'd guess he will be asked almost immediately when the media interviews start.

Sounds like the follow-up piece from Sharma hasn't gotten nearly as much attention from journalists, even though it names names and incidents where other MPs have caused issues.

Incidentally I have seen a 'facebook rumour' circulating about one of them, where this gets the same level of coverage as Uffindel did remains to be seen.

Was this followup one published on Facebook? I'm interested to read that if I don't have to use Facebook.

One story I saw said some of Sharma's staff were actually complaining about him, so it's a real he-said, she-said situation.

Two different issues I think. I believe I read the same article. Looks to me like Sharma bullied one staff member to tears and started work on another one or two. This does not align with any Labour Party values I'm familiar with. There's very little chance I'd vote for an electroate mp after that.

Same for this other Labour electorate mp in Tukituki

Cheers that was interesting. I see Sharma has named a senior mp in that post as giving Sharma the treatment. NZ Herald and Stuff have not named that mp for some reason. Presumably NZ legal risks or something like that. What Sharma alleges from that mp is absolutely bad and I'd want to see improvements. One again, not the right way to handle issues. At the same time my feelings are not as strong about that side of it at this time. Two very different things and do not cancel out by any means.

I can't imagine where that information is coming from.

Sharma has continued to pop off and is still naming names - and now another MP has confirmed to One News there are issues:

https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/08/15/disagreements-from-time-to-time-in-parliament-ardern/

Another Labour Party MP, who did not wish to be named, said there were bullying issues within the party, as well as Parliament.

They told 1News a conduct commissioner is crucial to getting to the bottom of the concerns raised this week.

Meanwhile, Ardern talks about it being a 'difficult place to work' and there being 'disagreements from time to time' which isn't very wellness-focused of her.
