Seems a decent bloke and a solid pick for running mate. The search will surely begin for dirt on the man by the Republicans, I hope there are no skeletons in the closet.

SJB:

A good middle of the road choice. He looks like your favorite uncle.

Shapiro looks like he's going to sell you insurance. Kelly looks like he's the local dentist.

Perceptions are everything at this level.

So is strategy. Running mates usually only give a small kicker in their home state (which is blue). Kelly was very popular in the older age group who know of him, thats his big down side, not being well known, now he has to show the US what Harris saw, given he only came into her scope since he coined the "Weird" comment a cpl weeks ago. Shapiro has one of the highest approval ratings including older folk (not just these running mate contenders). So perceptions can change with every person.

The main reason she picked him is to avoid the strategical issues with the other two (senator and gaza), but mostly because of Chemistry, supposedly. She feels he will reflect her policies well not just in speech. She only decided this morning (theirs).

Harris denying it had nothing to do with Shapiro's faith, but she has to say that. Lets hope it doesnt lose her Penn where they are today. Hopefully Shapiro is good with it and can campaign Penn hard core for her.

It was interesting, I got up, awake between 2-5am to watch it all unfold, the media was reporting Walz just because it was not Shapiro before it was announced for hours, she could have changed her mind or anything haha. It just shows the interest in the Harris campaign. But also how quickly the media latches on to story before fact of story.

He is a very good attack dog as he does it with a polite smile.

and immediately he lands one on Vances nose about his made up "Book".

Tim Walz lands a zinger on Vance about that couch story - and attacks him for using Hillbilly Elegy to trash his own community | The Independent

Walz went straight for the jugular in Philly. How about this Trump comment.

"And make no mistake, violent crime was up under Donald Trump — That’s not even counting the crimes he committed."

Yeh he had some zingers, not sure why the springsteen concert got a boo, unless it was due to referring to out of state concert. Didnt ruffle him at all, as it shouldn't. They all share similar qualities the top Dems, they are honest, dont get upset over small stuff and are not full on left. Like good politicians should be.

I like what he said about where he comes from, people have the respect to make their own choices and to mind your god damn business. That went down well.

One comment that was not designed for applause that I really appreciated;

"I learnt the art of compromise, without compromising my values"

Dang Shapiro is sharp. He might look clean cut but I reckon he could defend himself. as Walz said, holy hell this man can bring the fire.

Its not his time and that's ok, he was being prepped as the future, but he has plenty of time. I just love how well he spoke of Walz, both know each other so clearly know they are both A gamers in the fight for their citizens.

I thought Josh was going to burst the vein in the side of his neck.

Shame on Vance and the repubs for saying he she didnt go moderate she went fvr left including rubbish about "Hamas Caucus". Which is so idiotic, because Shapiro of all of them is the most pro right for Gaza, Walz in fact is the opposite of what they are saying.

Or as NY magazine said "GOPs dumbest attach of Walz's pick".

They are now so out of answers, and its only been two weeks, but Trump and co are so out of answers they have resorted to flinging mud of lies at the wall to see what will stick.

Well I dont think anything will stick to Harris, she just shrugs stuff on and goes about her business in a happy manner which is a hallmark of what is attracting people to her, or as Walz said "she has brought the JOY back". That truly does put Trump/Vance in a position they cannot win, far too much hate, negativity and likely autocracy for people outside those who only vote red, nazis and Christians (oddly dumb enough to believe him even when he says he does not care about them he just wants their vote).

I got a bad feeling not picking Shapiro.

only 70% of voters know anything about Walz.

Yes Walz is rural type. But he doesnt pull in rural votes in his own state, he wins it due to the bigger city pop.

Who knows, maybe he will get advice from the campaign strategists, to speak to middle America, that's his job.

The up shot is, nobody knows about Walz on both sides. I hope he has a solid answer to the DWI.

Not bad intro to Tim. But supposedly the Repubs are feeling much less scared than they were of Kelly, but especially Shapiro. Personally I agree with many of the political commentators, that if you stopped over thinking it, Shapiro was the right choice, as Van Jones says about Shapiro "he is a vote magnet". They have let the GOP off the hook. I dont think Walz will hurt Harris, but Shapiro for sure would have hurt Republicans.

So be it. I assume this and the "border" ad will be pumping out in strategical states.

Written before Walz was selected, but this is quite a good opinion piece on the debates: https://www.yahoo.com/news/opinion-why-sept-10-debate-102645312.html

But with Biden out of the race and with Harris set to replace him, Trump’s thinking has changed. He posted on Truth Social on Friday that the agreement he had made with Biden was “terminated” because “Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network …. thereby creating a conflict of interest.”

Neither excuse makes sense. Trump’s lawsuit against ABC — concerning anchor George Stephanopoulos’ saying Trump had been found “liable for rape” — was filed in March, weeks before he agreed to the ABC debate. And Trump and Biden didn’t just to agree to the debate because they thought it’d be a good time. They did so because they were considered de facto nominees for their parties. Now Harris is all but certain to be the nominee, so it only makes sense that she would take Biden’s place in the debate.

Yet another cowardly set of excuses?

It was right from the moment we found out.

With the right setup ie not walking into a Rally, she can win a Fox debate.

Go listen/watch Ben Shapiro on YT, this coward has swallowed the "lets make money off of maga" cool aid. a real peace of work.

Hes raising a number of issues ie Walz the burning down of Minneapolis city where Walz was critized for hesitancy in deploying the national guard after George Floyds death, which this shapiro clown is using with a bunch of other ammo

Republicans for Harris campaign has already within one week attracted 30 GOP politicians, Governors, Senators, Congress are all part of the attempt to attract, essentially, the Nikki Haley voters, which is a lot.

Larry Hogan, Im not sure if he is part of the above, is deeply anti trump and anti maga. These people just want their party back free of dictator wannabes and their sycophants. He is launching a $2M advert which spells out what has happened and to vote for People over politics.

If the real GOP turns on Trump and the magats, that could spell the end.

On another note, already seeing a drop in dem votes from Jews after the seemingly obvious, Shapiro was not selected. I think it was a mistake as he was the only one who could win her votes, and now the reverse, losing votes.

Im more concerned about the dirt that is going to be amplified by Trump on Walz. He will make mistakes sound end of world. Hopefully Tim has come backs to them all, already and doesn't get bogged down trying to fight about it. ie people make mistakes, its how we learn etc.

Lies lies lies run run run. Miller on Proj 2025. He literally could not see an issue with using US troops to
"plug" the border. These guys dont get how bad it is in other countries, this is not Biden this is a complex issue ie Venzuela, then Covid with other countries, in Europe its no different with War sending millions across borders. You cant just shoot people.

Arizona is a very conservative state, and has had its share of deplorables, including the horrible Sherriff Joseph Michael Arpaio

But it looks like Arizona residents are starting to getting sick of Trump's shenanigans, though they are still strongly in the Republican camp.

Republican mayor from border state explains why he just endorsed Harris for president

"Since Kamala Harris launched her presidential campaign, she’s racked up endorsements from former presidents, party leaders in Congress and won the support of enough delegates to clinch the nomination.

Now, the Harris campaign announced the support of more than a dozen mayors in Arizona, including Republican John Giles of Mesa. A reporter spoke with the mayor about his decision to back Harris."

I read this yesterday and I thought, Trump just expected the US political system top to bottom to roll over for him because he can say "your fired" (sarcasm about his political ability). But with so many versions of Republicans for Harris, now including actual politicians, its hard to see how Trump stops this surge. Harris has a handful of Rallies (including arizona) and then its the DNC, while Trump has a sentencing and a trial like Evidential hearing for the Georgia case, both of which will hurt him.

Only something out of a movie, some kind of villain type ace up the sleeve can rescue his free fall.

Currently dems win with 276, give Harris a boost of just 1% upward and they win easily while taking congress. IMO, she will gain another 3% over the current 2% polling avg by the end of the DNC. Getting her to near 50% and Trump closer to 40%.

But lets see who has the better grass roots setup and volunteers, something Biden had setup a long time back but Harris has added to with massive numbers.

Vance is struggling, while attacking Walz non Iraq military record he alienates a lot of Vets, but for me what is laughable is Vance 6 months in safety as a communications officer in Iraq, seeing now action either, so hes picking the wrong fight there.

Pakman sums it up, the fear mongering is not landing, its losing votes if anything. Just resort to name calling and then use it in context of a very fabricated fear mongering.

It may land with extremist far right/maga, but so many now are questioning the lies and flipping.

Harris=Democracy, hope and joy Trump= dictatorship, revenge, hate, depression.

The two are so very clear now, Trump hasnt learnt how to campaign without basing it on lies and Sociopath rambling.
