TLD: ...I saw in the report on the TV1 news this week, that Obama's fees, for appearing as a speaker, runs into hundreds of thousands of dollars.  What's that all about?  Does this cover the Secret Service team that will accompany him for the rest of his life? Or does he pocket it all?

No individual ever pays for the Secret Service. When you consider the blow-out for Trump's use, it's peanuts.

All of them do it.. George W Bush for example. There is no doubt that Trump will do the same thing.

What I've read today about the plunge is completely normal. However it is good for the media, and for Trump to comment/foot in mouth

Trump wants a parade. A big beautiful military parade:

"The president wants to do something that highlights the service and sacrifice of the military and have a unifying moment for the country," the official said.

Yes, it will cost millions.

If you remember that President Trump has a mental age of 10, then it all makes sense.

Parades are yuge !!!

Its hard to know NK's MO by getting its athletes to the Winter Games, and for KJU's sister to be part of the delegation.

Improve relations with the South or to aggravate the US and drive a wedge between the South and the US? But Pence going there to keep an eye on NK's propaganda at the games and to announce heavy new sanctions just before is a bit tacky. They should just have let the games  happen, send a few big name ex Olympic people there, and keep the politics out of it. Should NK play the propaganda card at the games, that can be denounced, and the world can make its own opinion. But to join in makes the US no better

It's obviously not occurred to Big Rocket Man that there will probably be more protesters than fans at such a parade.

Perhaps we mis-underestimated President Doofus. Maybe he said he wanted a 'big, beautiful CHARADE'?

But maybe not. He already has one of those.

Satire from The Borowitz Report

Military Refuses to Participate in Trump’s Parade, Citing Bone Spurs

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The Pentagon has turned down Donald J. Trump’s request for a grand military parade in Washington, D.C., citing a sudden outbreak of bone spurs that would prevent men and women in uniform from participating.

Harland Dorrinson, a Pentagon spokesman, said that, within an hour of Trump’s request, more than a hundred thousand military personnel complained that they were suffering from acute cases of bone spurs that would make marching in such a parade a painful ordeal.

“In the history of the U.S. military, we have never experienced a bone-spur epidemic of this magnitude,” the spokesman said. “Regrettably, however, we have no choice but to issue thousands of deferments.”

A statement from the bone-spur sufferers said that they would continue to valiantly serve their country around the world in a non-marching capacity, and offered an alternative to their participation in Trump’s proposed pageant.

“President Trump is welcome to march in the parade all by himself if he would finally like to enlist,” the statement read.

Trump demands that we acknowledge his uniqueness.

I'll go along with that. If there was a medal to be awarded - like a Victoria Cross for Global Infamy - I'd happily throw in my vote.

Trump will never be forgotten. Hoorah.

Unfortunately there are a lot of things in life that you can't 'un-remember'.

There are many images that you can't un-see, or remove them from your grey matter filing system.

Which is why I deliberately turn away whenever the Orange Pustule appears on my TV screen.

My lovely wife sees some sort of good in everybody, so I don't disagree - I just return to my Geekzone page.

One thing that this orange creature has done for me is to totally destroy my reliance on the 'good versus evil doctrine' employed by Holy Wood.

I mean, 'The Shooter' has been one of my favorites for years.

But, the unfortunate truth is that, no matter what the 'Creature From The Mara-lagoon' does or says, and no matter how far down the evolutionary scale he descends, there isn't a handy sniper with the cojones to do the world an immense favor by removing this Creature from our reality.
