Tinkerisk:

Serious media here in Germany simply call him ‘talking head’ after the Trump ‘interview’.

He reminds me of sports stars and similar that get taken on as TV commentators. They have no idea of what to ask or say and just blabber on about nothing of value.

Previously Trump claimed that no one knew more about missiles that he did, so maybe Trump could the Elon tips about using a miniaturized mushroom shaped rocket.

They could have an in-depth discussion about fatherhood, and how its quality of time and money spent that are important not quantity of time.

Plus since both have seen the inside of so many courthouses, they could rate the best to worst courtrooms.

No mention of this yet - https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/19/world/video/ramzan-kadyrov-tesla-cybertruck-russia-ldn-digvid

A cyber truck has appeared in the hands of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and the vehicle has a machine gun mounted in the rear. The Chechen war lord claims the vehicle was a gift from Elon Musk but Musk denies it was a gift from him.

If true, Musk would fall foul of the sanctions placed on the Chechen leader.

Let's see how that 'bullet proof' glass protects the occupants in the combat zone.

As long as the Cybertruck stays away from snow, at least it shouldn't need to be towed.

I wonder if Musk could disable it remotely, since it left the country illegally.

I don't think I'd gamble my life testing its "bulletproof" skin in the autonomous republic within the Russian Federation

A vehicle that looks like a PlayStation 1 render for a warlord out of an early-2000's video game. How appropriate.

kingdragonfly: Elon's dumbest suit yet (suing advertisers)

"Did you know that it's illegal not to pay Elon Musk money?

Yes, when a billionaire buys a social media platform, the law says you must advertise on that platform. Even if you're not an advertiser, you have to find a way to advertise.

This is due to a little known provision of the Communications Decency Act. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, but this is America, where we absolutely love compelled speech.

Okay, all of that was completely untrue, but what is true is that Elon Musk has declared war on advertisers because they hurt his feelings.

Musk: 'We tried being nice for two years and got nothing but empty words. Now it's war.'

Musk, who is a self-described champion of free speech and free markets previously told advertisers that if they didn't like the new regime, they could get the f__k out.

Musk :'If somebody's gonna try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go F-__k yourself'

But that was, of course, eight long months ago, and Musk didn't anticipate that all the advertisers would just pick up their ball and go home.

Now, Musk believes it's totally illegal for a business not to give him money. Musk and Twitter sued the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, or GARM, a coalition of advertisers, for violating antitrust laws by coordinating with brands to discourage advertising on Twitter.

Musk loves being in court. Whether it's being sued, or suing someone, he spends an outrageous time in court.

Despite the ominous "Soros back Media Matters" Musk sued the state of California over a law requiring social media companies to disclose their policies on hate speech and disinformation.

Media Matters started a boycott after advertisements of major corporations were being posted next to pro-Nazi posts or otherwise hateful content on the platform

It was quickly joined by companies including Apple, IBM, Comcast and Lionsgate Entertainment.

The problem is that it is hard to squeeze the world’s richest man financially. Musk told the companies to "go f-__k yourseld" and told his lawyers to file suit.

Despite the added caps to the tweat, it's not "huge"

Musk filed his case in a district perceived to be most favorable to his interests, the 5th District

It is called "forum shopping".

His lawyers know it is more likely to provide a favorable outcome for the case.

It's doomed to fail, but when Musk earnings are over 570,000 times the average "X" worker’s salary, what would you expect.

It's the equivalent of Trump filing a case in Florida.

All the judge ruled was he filed his paperwork correctly, and Musk had some connection to Texas.

So congratulations Musk, you achieved the equivalent of getting fishing license paperwork successfully summited in Texas.

This just in: the former bird site shuts down in Brazil, and its users appear to be migrating en masse to Bluesky...

And before anyone yells, "freeze peach!", here's a nuanced take on Musk's hypocrisy:

When X censored political opposition in Turkey and India, Musk claimed he had to follow local laws.
Now Brazil asks X to follow local laws, and Musk's refusing, claiming it's because free speech.
It's not free speech, it's does he like you, and no one should pretend otherwise.

Mistaking a cautionary tale for a training manual is typical form for megalomaniacs. Orwell's 1984 is another famous example.
