I'm not sure what to make of this thread. Not so long ago wasn't he called The Lord Elon, the only EV you should buy was Tesla to save the planet, everything about Tesla was genius.
A lot has changed I gather?
I saw an analysis of Space X's launch tonnage - Space X accounts for something like 85% of the tonnage launched last year.
However you slice it, that's impressive and if Musk is even slightly responsible for that, well done.
It's a shame he's such an insufferable pr**k with his 'me me me' attitude to everything else.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

Not really, Tesla's brand is still doing OK despite what some people / media companies might lead you to believe.

Loyalty is great for existing customers.
Needing your loyal customers to drop their current model earlier and buy a different one quicker, may be a limiting strategy.
May go so far, but big payoff is drawing in 'new' customers, that part of the market that has so far been more cautious.
However...
Once you have firmly tied Tesla to Elon's identity where they are synonymous.
It may not be so great when Elon starts to become anathema to expanded market you want to take the plunge on buying your product.
He has become ever more extreme as well and threating democracy with testosterone autocracy and oligarchy.
Bad marketing maybe better than none, but not always.
When you take on persona of a 'Bond Villain', or video game villain', the 'any publicity is good publicity' stretch may break.
The Tesla cars are great, if supreme for their part of the market. In a segment its only choice really?
Truck vanity project and its execution just takes away from that when you want to expand into less risk accepting part of market.
Even the being kind to the planet motivation is in conflict with the new Elon.
Elon now talking with Trump on having 100 or more years to sort out hydrocarbon issues so no need to rush.
Then Trump doubles down with a 1000 years and Musk reply to Mr 'Drill Baby Drill' and 'Clean Coal' ?

Elon Musk being creepy, or Godly ?
Much like Gods Musk's word may not be his bond.
Gods were creepy, thus the panoply of demigods from their various affairs, often by deception.

Creepy. He's always creepy.

Forbes is hardly a good source of objective information these days...

Don't trust them, trust the data. Look elsewhere and you'll find the same data showing Model Y is still the best selling car.
