Funny how the people who were elected on the "Snowflakes get triggered too easily" are the ones complaining when a comedian does her act and makes jokes of them.

They weren't just arguing that (liberal) snowflakes get triggered too easily, they were (and still are) screaming that "feelings" don't matter every time dirty Don says or does something disgusting.

Feelings do matter - and republicans will leap to the defense of any slight against their "kin".  Hillary found out after making her "deplorables" comment.

The problem is the communication between the two sides particularly in America IE look at the way Kanye West got treated when he posted his support on twitter for Trump, people saying he had lost his mind because he was black and supporting Trump like all black people have to think the same way. To me it seems that the problem is doing exactly what Hillary said calling your opponents voters deplorable you simply cannot and should not stereotype people in categories.

Mark my words if the democratic party keep attacking Trump's voter base Trump will win again in 2020 even more so if his next opponent is another Neoliberal warmonger like Hillary Clinton.

South Korea president says Trump deserves Nobel Peace Prize

Well he probably deserves it as much as Obama did.

I've read a couple of comments on Reddit from Korean speakers who suggest that the translation conveys the wrong impression. Moon is not saying he thinks Trump should get a Nobel Peace Prize, he's saying "Trump can get a Peace Prize; all I want is peace." In other words, "I don't care if Trump gets the peace prize as long Korea gets peace," but in a public/polite mode of speech.

I don't disagree with that WRT stereotyping - it carries some risks.

Isn't calling Hillary Clinton a neoliberal warmonger disingenuous stereotyping?

I am not generalising her voter base this I am just calling her actions and comments like I see them.

As you are aware I am very deeply anti war.

I would call Trump this too because of his recent attacks on Syria but he has flip flopped on this issue so much I don't know what to believe.

I read that it wasn't even a direct quote, but a spokesperson who said he said something, and there's nothing on record.  Add that to what you say - that it was lost in translation - and the orgasmic exuberance by the Breitbart crowd seems somewhat premature.

Needless to say, and regardless of whether past laureates "should have" received the prize - argued with the benefit of hindsight of course, the GOP doesn't decide who gets it, and Trump's chance of ever getting it is nil.

Moon might though, but there's a lot of potential for the "agreement" to come unstuck between now and next year.

How do you reconcile that with Trump's massive increase in funding to the largest military in the world, upgrading the nuclear arsenal, threats to target the families and children of terrorists, inciting xenophobia and intolerance, urging the use violence against protesters etc?

I don't agree any of that do you think im a Trump supporter?

I don't agree with everything he does at all. He in much more on the lines of a Neocon than I hoped he would be.

In saying that though I think like always that it's important to see why he won and what you can do to change his core bases mind because like it or not for anyone else to win in 2020 you will need to do that, it doesn't help matters by only showing him in a purely negative light (like the media seems to) because that creates an US vs them senario. Online is where the change has to happen the likes of CNN and MSNBC have a far smaller following than larger youtube political commentators for eg.

Yes - I accept that.

What do you suggest could alter his "core base"?  I don't think that they're even able to be stereotyped as "a group", but an assortment of stereotypes, from religious evangelists who believe that Trump's failings are less of a threat than Islam, from some rich folks who couldn't care less about anything so long as a POTUS helped line their own pockets, from poor folks who genuinely believed that their misery was a result of "liberalism" and "the swamp" and still believe Trump will fix that, from some classical liberals who believe so strongly in their political ideology that they'll forgive Trump's failings in much the same way as some evangelical christians seem to be doing, probably many who vote for any GOP candidate for no better reason than that's how their father voted, some because he isn't black, some because he isn't a woman.

The only things they seem to have in common is that they do not want to know or hear or read anything at all negative about Trump.  It's an absolutely crazy situation.

Good question obviously this is all my personal opinion from understanding the trump voter base: Go in with a strong anti interventionist message for a start, call him out on his meddling in the middle east and his campaign promises a decent chunk of his base (even some of the larger more right wing youtubers ie PJW and styx watched by his voter base) where against his military actions in Syria. Appeal to the rust belt states and target a message for white low-mid income people (they don't want to hear about there white privilege while struggling to make ends meet). This kinda follows the last suggestion but stay away completely from identity politics. Put up a strong candidate that is not so traditional establishment (establishment being to my mind someone without the last name of bush or clinton). Don't be too complex with your message make it simple speak in a language that appeals to general populace.

The democrats need to move back towards traditional liberalism they are losing voters even millennials are getting more likely to vote red now from a recent poll.

Honestly I think if Bernie Sanders where to have run against Trump he probably would have won but I think in 2020 unless something drastic happens IE a bad war or a economic downturn I think Trump will be re elected .

Crazy yes. But no more crazy than those people that do not want to know or hear or read anything at all positive about Trump !!! This world is becoming more and more divided without due consideration. And the word FOOL is being bandied about by internet warriors more often than I care to see or say.

I hate to admit it, but I think Trump has taken advantage of that - right or wrong. I also hate to admit that I think quite possibly, he is smart enough to realize that division and take advantage of those divisions long term. At the end of the day, sadly, he is the result of a democratic election in a democratic country  - which IMO is a lot better than living under the rule of many middle Eastern countries.

You are a Trump supporter, but its also hard to argue your points. He was voted in fairly, he did win, and he did touch the hearts of the downtrodden.

Not opinion, but fact.

ROFLMAO. I am far from being a Trump supporter. Are you really that narrow minded just because somebody else might try and see things from the other perspective? To try and understand this pathetic madness? Trump supporter! ROFLMAO. Funny stuff. Oh dear me!

Calm down! Take a deep breath....  I was assuming from past posts, and its obvious new that I was thinking of someone else, ok? No offence intended.

No, i'm not narrow minded, quite the opposite. I dont sit on anyones fence but I try to look from that POV. If I have got you wrong thinking of another poster, it was unintended

LOL, No I am quite calm. I don't take offence because that is for snowflakes. But unlike MANY in this thread, many of whom have only been able to offer re-tweets and insults, I do try to understand why this madness is going on. Sometimes you need to put yourself in the other persons shoes. It's called empathy. That does not necessarily mean you support those views at all costs.

Many in this thread have proven quite categorically that they do not even consider another persons point of view, simply because it is different to their own and their mind is made up. I think that is a bit pompous. And I think that is where Trump has been very clever, dangerous and quite ingenious.

He has created a new market, a (Trump) brand continuation. His previous / anticipated media news worthiness is based on the American dream. The American dream continues to be based on the simple mantra - work hard, be successful and make lots of money. His news worthiness has been both positive and negative. Rags to riches Bull**** etc. Americans love a tryer!

He knows that through social media, he only needs to throw out one fishing line with enough bait to get the piranha biting in order to keep his popularity up there. Personally I think he will do more damage to America when his presidency ends, because that is when he will capitalize on all this. He is not stupid. I think he is very clever but devious.

And so many people in this thread continue to be the screaming bait that makes Trump the fisherman stronger and stronger.
