So it appears that Boris was just a pawn and his role in the game is over.

Have we found out who Murdoch wants to appoint as PM - is it going to be Michael Gove, or are there going to be a few more surprises before the dust settles?

Who knows? These things do my head in.

For all we know, Boris arranged this so that he gets out of the job apparently through no fault of his own, leaves AN Other to deal with Brexit and any associated fallout and then steps in for the 2020 election.

It is amazing that these high profile people who were so for Brexit, are now not ready to stand behind it. Maybe they didn't expect it to go through.

TwoSeven: Pays not to listen to the media when it comes to UK political strategy.

.... In think mr Corbin might get ousted in september, but it would be hard to tell who at the moment would replace him.

Corbyn will go soon, very soon. Watch out for Angela Eagle.

I have no doubt Boris would  have taken the job but without enough support after Gove stabbed him in the back, he was bright enough to recognise that he would never succeed in winning the leadership contest.

I buy this - Boris is no fool and very ambitious. This way he doesn't get stained with the actual mechanics of the Brexit extraction and is free to have another clean shot in a few years time - as you say.

Either way. I saw part of Gove's announcement speech yesterday. It sounded like something from Blackadder.

45 minutes of telling Conservative politicians why they should NOT back him. He reminded me of Adrian Mole. A 5,000 word speech put together in 12 hours?

Gove is toast.

He seriously did not factor in that stabbing one of the most popular politicians in the UK in the back would affect his chances...! Doh!

I saw maybe 30 seconds in a news clip. But it felt like 45 minutes ; ).

I agree - Toast. And let's face it, he put himself in the toaster.

And 24 hours ago Farage steps down. The Brit media loves the word "fallout" and of course will milk it for what it's worth.

All I can say is, I admire the guy for achieving what he set out to do - A referendum about the EU. History will be his judge.

The Conservatives leader candidate list has closed with five candidates. The first round of voting in the series to narrow this down to one winner starts today. Looks like it will be between Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom.

TM is slightly older and is more experienced but she voted Remain in the referendum. She also refuses to rule out other Europeans living in the UK having to return home after Brexit.

AL younger, experienced but less than TM. Also voted Leave and that's a good plus for her. I suspect she has an edge on TM to be leader and PM.

I wonder where Mr Farage is migrating to.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
