Rikkitic:

Just saw on the news that Trump is revoking security clearances of present and past officials who have criticised him. How  to dismantle a democracy, step by step. He seems to be exceeding everyone's worst nightmares.

Yep, saw this earlier this morning.

I'm not defending Trump, but why would retired employees still have access to high level security clearances???

One would hope that this will apply across the board, regardless of political persuasion. Retired? GONE!!!!

I wait with baited breath until it is confirmed how it will work. Until then ………….

Access to classified information is on a "need to know basis"  - which as those retired don't have a need to know, they don't access that classified information anyway.

This is nothing more than Trump using something symbolic to delegitimise critics. Of course and OTOH - what they already know - they can't suddenly "unknow" because of what Trump says - except on Fox News of course.

The media shouldn't be playing Trump's stupid game on this.  He's a malicious idiot with an obvious desire to be an authoritarian dictator - and should be treated as such by the MSM.

Didnt you also say only war?

I think I said that a war would guarantee his re-election. This is something else.

Indeed. Clearances are attached to individuals. Having one doesn't automatically entitle you to privileged information. This is just a petty gesture to discredit those Trump doesn't like. But it is also part of a larger chipping away at democratic conventions calculated to undermine everything that might stand in Trump's way.

Trump's now putting together a $12 billion subsidy package to rescue farmers he's hurt.  Taxpayer funded bailouts.

That includes government committing to buy surplus production to keep prices up.

It's a "stable genius" idea that's been tried before (and failed).  It lead to things like about 20 million more sheep being counted than actually existed when NZ subsidised sheep farming (the "SMP scheme) and butter "mountains" in Europe that collapsed prices long term.

Another day - another ROFL tweet:

Is he totally delusional - or is he just putting in a backstop - so that if the GOP gets slammed in the mid-terms, then he can tell himself (and the "faithful") that they lost votes due to "Russian interference"?

NSFW warning!

Sacha Baron Cohen sure has a knack of getting along with Republican morons, easing them into revealing the truth about themselves.  This GOP lawmaker sure has some stable genius thing going on.  Persistent too - he won't resign.

What is a nooni? It's not any Yiddish word I know.

Before the segment aired, Spencer threatened to take legal action against Showtime and said that the deception was "exactly why President Donald Trump was elected."

He released a new statement after the segment aired, to a local Georgia television station, in which he says he will not resign.

CNBC - A majority thinks Russia has dirt on Trump, a new poll shows

  • By a 51-to-35 percent margin, U.S. voters are convinced the Russian government has dirt on Trump, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll.
  • His overall approval rating now sits at 38 percent, compared with 58 percent disapproval, according to the poll.
  • The Real Clear Politics average of polls shows that Trump's rating is underwater by nearly 10 points.

In his address to the convention in Kansas City, Trump defended his decision to slap tariffs on the U.S.’s trading partners. As Trump told the crowd that “it’s all working out,”

What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening” Trump said.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

(Orwell "1984")

Donald, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Your cell mate Jose is dying to ask you about his missing children.
