I've been muttering Jesus' name in probably in an incredulous but still blasphemous manner, while reading Trump's tweetstorm.

Trump's "expressing an opinion" - apparently - not "issuing an order" to obstruct justice:

This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further.

Op-ed piece in Los Angeles California "Times" newspaper

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-whitman-trump-helsinki-gop-response-20180722-story.html

Calling my fellow Republicans: Trump is clearly unfit to remain in office
By Christine Todd Whitman
Former Governor of New Jersey

"President Trump’s disgraceful performance in Helsinki, Finland, and in the days since is an indication that he is not fit to remain in office. Trump’s 2016 “America First” platform might be more aptly named “Russia First” after the disaster that occurred last week.

Trump’s turn toward Russia is indefensible. I am a lifelong Republican. I have campaigned and won as a member of the party, and I have served more than one Republican president. My Republican colleagues — once rightfully critical of President Obama’s engagement strategy with Russian leader Vladimir Putin — have to end their willful ignorance of the damage Trump is doing both domestically and internationally. We must put aside the GOP label, as hard as that may be, and demonstrate the leadership our country needs by calling on the president to step down.
...
Republican voters, including those who supported Donald Trump, have the obligation to demand action from their elected officials. Vocal opposition is expected from Democrats, but it is Republicans’ disapproval that will have the most sway on Capitol Hill and at the White House.

Those members of the party in Congress who have stood up to the president should be commended. More must follow, with more than private talk and tepid tweets. Only bold leadership can put the United States back on a path that values freedom and democracy, and truly puts America first."

Drill baby drill:
Trump administration using extremely dodgy data to justify winding back pollution and fuel efficiency regulations for automobiles.  Rewarding the pickup truck demographic.  "Cleaner" cars cause more crashes - yeah right.

Trump administration moves to make new cars dirtier by arguing they’ll be safer

The Trump administration moved to lower nationwide vehicle fuel efficiency rules today by arguing that dirtier cars will be safer.

The administration is also trying to take away California’s power to set its own greenhouse gas emissions standards and zero-emission vehicle program, which are initiatives that many other states around the country have followed for years.

Environmental agencies, industry groups, states, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger, have already pushed back strongly against the Trump administration’s move.

The New Yorker - It’s True: Trump Is Lying More, and He’s Doing It on Purpose

On Thursday, the Washington Post published a remarkable story on its front page revealing a recent spike in the number of “false and misleading claims” made by President Trump.

In his first year as President, Trump made 2,140 false claims, according to the Post.

In just the last six months, he has nearly doubled that total to 4,229.

In June and July, he averaged 16 false claims a day.

On July 5th, the Post found what appears to be Trump’s most untruthful day yet:
76 per cent of the 98 factual assertions he made in a campaign-style rally in Great Falls, Montana, were “false, misleading or unsupported by evidence.”

This is the first paragraph of a long op-ed, too complicated to summarize. Worth reading.

Don Lemon is wrong. The democrats are chasing phantoms. Trump supporters don't care about facts. He can't be defeated with logical argument. He needs to be caught molesting children or the US economy needs to crash (not likely at the moment). Otherwise he wins.

How could it ever crash when you've got talent like this in charge?

Trump doesn't know the difference between balance of trade and services and a federal deficit. Trump's tariffs and BS talk aren't working (largest trade deficit in 10 years) and a massive US$1.25 trillion budget deficit for 2018 as a result of of decreased tax revenue and increased spending - much of it on the military war machine he's in charge of.

Spend 8 years during Obama's presidency complaining about how he's increased the budget deficit when it was needed,  then when you've got control - do the same but worse when it's not needed.

Those who voted and will vote for him do not hear the lies, do not read the errors, do not hear the racism, sexism and any other ism, they just gulp down the Trump cool aid and praise their new Messiah.

[Yes, this cartoon is in very bad taste, but so is The Donald.]
