There seems to be a strong anti-science current in society today.

That coincides with an apparent increase in over-zealous evangelism.  I'm confident a Venn diagram would show a large overlap between group A nutters and group B nutters.  The only thing new about this is that easy availability/sharing of information via the internet should have fixed it, but it's not working out so well.

I don't think religious nutters are confined to Christian evangelism.  Well distributed through many religions.

I'm sure if you looked hard enough, there'd be examples to prove me wrong, but as general rule the USA has a real problem with Christian religious fundamentalist extremism, but a normal enough distribution of other religious and non-religious nutters.

I was thinking more globally and there are many examples of extremist actions in other religions.

Hundreds of anti-vaxxers flood New Jersey capital to protest bill that would end religious exemptions

Washington Post, by Kayla Epstein

Hundreds of anti-vaccine activists arrived at the New Jersey legislature Thursday to protest a bill that would dramatically restrict exceptions for inoculations.

Protesters, composed of parents and religious leaders, demonstrated outside the capitol in Trenton and flooded its halls, bearing signs with slogans such as “When there is forced medicine, there is no liberty,” and “We deserve an education."

The state Senate’s health committee was scheduled to consider a bill that would eliminate the current religious exemptions allowed for New Jersey’s public school children, NJ.com reported.

Lawmakers introduced the measure after the region suffered a series of outbreaks this year stemming from communities with low vaccination rates.

Thursday was the last opportunity for the public to comment in front of lawmakers before the legislation headed to the full Senate and Assembly, according to NJ.com. It ultimately passed 6-4, despite objection from the hundreds of opponents who descended on the hearing room.

At one point, a large group of demonstrators filled the wrong hearing room, NJBiz reported, occupying an upcoming transit meeting instead.

I don't think there's any religious rules around how much water can be blessed at a time, so why not just bless the entire Earth's water, or even the entire universe's water at once? That should take care of any pesky space vampires hanging out on other planets.

I'm sure the Revend can supply proof that holy water has changed evil water, otherwise what's the point?

Crop-duster used to spread 100 gallons of holy water on Louisiana town

The Hill by Owen Daughtrey

A Louisiana church used a crop-duster plane to spread dozens of gallons of holy water on the city of Lafayette [in the deep south state of Louisiana] and surrounding farms this week.

...“They loaded 100 gallons of holy water into the plane and the pilot sprayed the water onto the town and the nearby farms. Parishioners also brought water from home to the airstrip to be blessed,” the post read.

The Rev. Matthew Barzare of St. Anne Church told NPR that the plane was an efficient way to cover more ground for a blessing.

"We can bless more area in a shorter amount of time," he said.

..."I blessed it there, and we waited for the pilot to take off," Barzare said, adding that it was the largest amount of water he had ever turned holy. "I've blessed some buckets for people and such, but never that much water.”...

Personally I don't see any reason this belongs in the topic. It's just an ordinary religious ceremony.

"Conservative", "family values", "tradition"... Antigay megachurch Pastor Earnest Angley caught on tape talking about all the gay sex he’s had. Old story but to the point.

Let's have a look at an old list.

I now have less respect ... for the men Pastor Earnest Angley had gay sex with. It must be like being suffocated under a fallen sack of lard.

Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."

The inconvenient simplification of the verse is "pick one master
  • love God, be devoted to God. But you'll have to hate and despise money
  • OR love money, be devoted to money. But you'll hate and despise God"

Of course this "mystic" states "Many people take this verse to mean you shouldn't desire wealth. But that's completely wrong. God gives us all things to enjoy." So I guess she loves traffic jams, telemarketers, mosquitos, hypocrites ...

How God Speaks to Me Through License Plates

    Mystic Manifesting

In May 2017 I got my first message from God through a license plate that reference a verse in the Bible. It was a direct answer to a prayer I had made two days prior. Since then I have received many messages via license plates. Most of them have confirmed, or mirrored back, a sincere desire I had.

I'm sorry but I just can't watch that. The sheer mind-numbing stupidity of people like this, and especially, those who listen to them, plunges me into deep, deep despair.

Edited to add a thought that just occurred to me. Seeing messages in number plates is often a sign of schizophrenia. Maybe that lady belongs in a hospital.
