Eh? Clearly the Biden - Trump debate was as important as it gets.

Well thats true too. I just wish the media would point out how deranged his lies are. He just says whatever he wants and gets away with it. The media enable it to some extent. Viewers dont react because "thats just" Trump.

But that first one definitely had impact, mostly due to Joe's look/response more than Trumps lies.

So its possible no matter how well Harris does on this one, it might not cut through the Trump cake that is already baked.

Just back on ads for a second, clearly Harris is trying to open up multiple avenues to 270 with the Sun states. I wonder if Trump will top up his ad spend in the last month where Harris is spending ~3x in those last weeks. Or if a Super Pac will pay it for him.

I just dont know other than having sentenced Trump up prior to the immunity ruling which then delayed the sentencing, what else is going to wake people up to having so much at stake.

The electoral college having some of the least engaged public who decide the election could just well vote Republican as thats what they always done and assume nothing bad happened last time under Trump, with guard rails just holding things together. It is quite surreal.

There is some truth in a line that the orange buffoon said back in 2016, something where he could stand on the street and shoot someone and still get elected. His MAGA followers couldn't care less, they're in a nasty, hateful cult, that's built around one man's (seemingly) endless narcissism, fueled with a sense of neverending victimhood. It's truly pathetic.

Yes thats the enabling and feeding the base, which is disturbing.

The surreal bit is who decides this election could be people who just vote without necessarily doing any research or very little.

Its the rural areas of the swing states Trump is targeting, he knows many will be hurting financially still and his ads certainly make her look incompetent. Many wouldnt know if its out of context etc.

The irony is she is one of the most experienced civil servant first time Nominees ever. more than JFK, Obama and Reagan and obviously the orange man who had no experience.

I think she is plenty capable of running the country and delivering on many of her policies, of course the  idea is to lean on your teams experience. But Trump doesnt like that, he cant work with anything other than "yes" people, so without sounding dramatic its a very dangerous era as we know his plans and with no guard rails.

The TikTok and Instragram influencer RightSideLesbianArtToo is a self proclaimed Conservative Lesbian Christian artist.

She wants to bring back the military draft; Does she know about Trump bone spurs???

She also wants to reopen insane asylums; she needs psychotherapy.

Three “reasons” to vote for Trump?

RightSideLesbianArtToo has given us three reasons she voting for Donald Trump… none of them make any sense.

Its the same with many illogical voters.

College voters, I was watching one campus leader with the flag behind him say they vote Trump because things were easier financially during his presidency and under Biden the American dream is less so, words to that effect.

These are supposedly smart individuals.

How do people not look at Trump's record during covid and then understand GLOBE suffered and the US is easily leading financial recovery under Biden, yet Trump is a 6, going on 7 time Bankrupt businessman, with some extreme Civil Fraud sentencing, again it goes back to him being on the apprentice and Americans make a "Game Show" into reality, with no policies (outside increasing inflation via Tariffs) and a very bad record in his first term.

These are top college educated students, why is there no cognitive analysis and critical thinking capability from such educated individuals? It sounds more like they are regurgitating something they have been told because it doesnt add up.

Edit: https://www.racetothewh.com/president/polls

The morning consult polls across the 14 states in play have firmed things up for Harris again, map wise. But still the 7 swing states are close, although it has Harris PA +3, MI +3, WI +3, then Ga tied, NC tied, NV tied, Trump AZ +2.

Cant read much into polls that tight other than the Blue Wall looks to be holding and Harris has dramatically eaten into what were Trump states under Biden in July. But Trump is far from out of it, especially with people swallowing his hyperbole.

Ive read it twice now, RFK jr pulling out of the ten states DID have a bigger impact than most were expecting based off the macro data. Who really knows. It does match the timeline of poll changes, but until its over nobody will know the real impact.

More of this is needed, spell it out to the people and the media, who caused xyz. She needs to say to voters that the entire Globe was in recession and we were far worse off during covid under Trump, financially and otherwise, spell it out because people just make absurd assumptions. I thought this well time Repub afg withdrawal report might not be handled well, but hitting back hard putting it back on Trump needs to occur on this, on the border, on the economy. Yes give people your plans for the future, but make sure they know who caused the problems.

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/09/liz-cheney-trump-kamala-harris-00178093

Although the orange buffoon just outright dismisses it, the impact of the Cheneys endorsing (and voting for) Harris may have a bigger effect than he thinks it might:

“It’s a true reflection of how bad Donald Trump is — to think about a Dick Cheney, who is as time-tested of a conservative Republican as anybody in the roster, to come out and take a stance to support, like myself, Kamala Harris,” said former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican Harris supporter. “Look, the Republican Party loses no matter what. If Donald Trump gets beat by Kamala Harris — like I think is going to happen — the Republican Party loses. But if Donald Trump wins, the Republican Party loses even more: We’ll lose any and all credibility that we’ve got.”

So on point. People really should know better.

This ad is much better from Harris campaign, using his ex aids comments in a targetted incompetence ad. More more more. One on the economy and how Trump set the economy up during covid to spell out to people who live in a bubble what happened with the economy over the last 4 years and why its effected people personally. I guess they need to go to the lowest common denominator of critical thinking and bias and target there.

I hope her debate goes well and all of these good things combined help.

I believe it starts at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon our time, so will be watching to see how it goes. Hopefully better than Biden's one a few months ago.

one thing still does my head in, people are grilling Harris over her economic plans, which while aspirational, will spread the wealth.

Yet NOBODY is grilling Trump over his policies or vast lack of, aside from adding costs of ~$4000 per annum per household, just with his Tariff policy alone.

Seriously, the US media to me seems afraid to tackle Trump, both on age/mental health and economy. Yet they just let him get away with saying the direct opposite of the truth toward Harris on so many issues.

Ugggh. :-(

Hopefully Harris doesn't just let him get away with spouting nonstop crap during the debate. Would be nice if the moderators were a bit more onto than the CNN ones last time.

Speaking of CNN: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/10/politics/harris-crucial-test-debate-analysis/index.html

Presidential debates usually don’t decide elections — notwithstanding the cataclysmic impact of Biden’s wipeout. But Tuesday night represents the best remaining chance for Harris to drive home a decisive argument that could thwart Trump’s historic comeback.

J.D Vance going for the Vice President of Facebook position:

CBSNews: Officials in Springfield, Ohio, said Monday they have not received any credible reports of Haitian immigrants abducting and eating pets, despite viral claims on social media that have been amplified by Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance and others.

and yes, he can and will go lower. J.D Vance has proved he is both desperate and evil at the same time.

If she slip in that tomorrow (US time) is September 11. It would be sure way to get a reaction.

That he was in three places at once, scattered across 7 miles, and across a river.

And also was a first responder

“I was down there also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder,” Trump said. “But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you.”
