One way Trump gets away with incoherence and contradictory statements is degree of 'Trump Whispering' that news organizations may have started so they can write readable articles.

Lawrence O'Donnell Spots New York Times 'Confession' To 'Sane-Washing' Trump
"Here is the New York Times' attempt at a cure for its own habit of sane-washing, in which, in the end, it sane-washes Donald Trump again," the MSNBC host fumed.
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/lawrence-odonnell-trump-sane-washing_n_66e04e5ae4b0b3a5341b32cd

""
But in the very next passage, it committed another “sane-washing” offense, O’Donnell noted.

In its interpretation of Trump’s near-gibberish quote, the Times wrote, “What he seemed to be saying was that he would raise so much money by imposing tariffs on imported goods that the country could use the proceeds to pay for child care. In itself, that would be a disputable policy assumption.”
""

Reporters also pressured by potential they (and families) will be lynched if called out by the 'Dear Leader'.

After watching the 'debate', I had to wait for a while to let my heart rate subside.

Trump was Trump. Nuff said.

Trivial Pursuit

The NY Times - Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris in Instagram post.

breaking

Taylor Swift, one of America’s most celebrated pop-culture icons with a giant following across the world, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the immediate aftermath of the presidential debate on Tuesday. …

Swift signed her post “childless cat lady,” a reference to comments made by Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, about women without children. The accompanying photo shows her holding a fluffy feline.

Disclosure: I am not a Swiftie.   ☺️

Sensational.

Swifties (and there are a lot of them) will doubtless follow her lead now.

Wonder what will happen with the polling numbers now this debate is finished?

Regarding the debate, every time Harris goaded him, Trump reacted just as she expected.

Every time she dangled the bait, he took it.

I think her laughing at Trump's answers, even though her microphone was muted, infuriated Trump and scrambled his few remaining brain cells.

Democratic donations during and immediately after were very active, in particular with women voters.

Deadline: Presidential Debate TV Review: Kamala Harris Baits Raging Donald Trump Into His Worst Self In Face-Off
...
Unlike Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden, the loaded-for-bear vice president knew exactly where to aim and what the reaction would be. By the end of the 90-minute debate and its closing statements, Trump looked haunted and, frankly, old.

Unlike the 81-year-old Biden, Harris in primetime hit back at the 78-year-old Trump over and over as he tried to bluster, BS and bully his way through the audience-free debate.

“You’re not running against Joe Biden, you’re running against me,” Harris stated, blunting Trump’s attack lines with his own language and barely containing her contempt. Democrats must be ecstatic with their candidate exceeding all expectations as Trump almost encouraged Harris to do.

The most remarkable part of it in an election cycle that has been so unpredictable and remarkable is that Trump should have seen Harris’ tactics coming from a mile away. Harris has been saying the same stuff ever since she took over as the Democrats’ standard bearer back in late July. Yet, in what has been a distinctly unpredictable White House race, Trump’s predictability to still lose his sh*t is something you can count on like pyrotechnics at a KISS concert.

Rarely taking her eye off the former president on the split screen, pronouncing early on that Trump will spew “lies” and giving little quarter on matters large and small that her GOP rival brought up in a string of attack lines, the 59-year-old former prosecutor was a study in offense instead of the typical defense of her party.

"Sanewashing".  That's the perfect term for what journalists have to do when reporting on anything Trump says.

The Guardian - Do celebrity endorsements matter?

In 2012, researchers at Northwestern University and the University of Maryland tried to establish the correlation, if any, between celebrity endorsements and votes.

They used Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement of Barack Obama ahead of the 2008 Democrat primary to examine whether it had any effect on the polls.

The researchers concluded that Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement was worth about a million votes for Obama ...

Cayce Myers, a professor of public relations at Virginia Tech said, Swift’s endorsement “may have an impact on the election because it may encourage younger Gen. Z fans to vote.”

While Celebrity endorsements do not necessarily translate into meaningful turnout, he said, Swift’s endorsement was going out to particularly large fan base, was focussed on women’s rights, an issue that favours Democrats, and that the post, “has the potential to raise awareness among younger voters who might be paying less attention to the presidential election.”

Most probably guessed: "Loaded for bear" is an old gun hunting Americanism from the 1800's.

https://grammarist.com/idiom/loaded-for-bear/

"The idiom loaded for bear means being fully prepared, armed, or equipped to handle any situation, usually a challenging one. Imagine you’re a manager, and you’re going into a meeting or event ready to conquer anything they throw your way, like you’re gearing up to face a ferocious bear in the woods."

Exactly, which we all knew was her aim, even his team knew it was. It started with that advert from his former advises telling the people hes incompetent, hes dangerous, he should not be near president again essentially, which was ran specifically in Mar-a-lago (although I do hope her team pumps that one out nationally).

She put him on tilt. One thing that goes with that though is, he always gets an extra response as he cant control himself to let her say something bad about him or what he has done and the moderators do not have control. It would work even better if they just muted him on any responses to her answers. To the point he loses it completely and just starts shouting and frothing.

If you look at it with no bias, Trump didnt provide any plans much less detail and was just blaming everybody else. Harris was both providing ideas and some details for americas future, but also calling out Trump on his lies. and unlike Biden, she was much more animated with the camera.

a. But Harris should have tied the economic issues to both Trump and Covid, then explained despite this record economic growth and employment, then explain what this means for being able to lower the cost of living.

b. Whenever Trump says, why havnt you done what you say you will, she needs to make it much clearer these are her ideas going forward as President and then throw it back at him, why didnt you do what you talk about actually as President.

Those two points I think the average american just cannot seem to put together with critical thinking (pretty obvious stuff imo).

I dont know anything about Swift. But doesn't she have quite a lot of followers on Insta and X?

I do wonder how many of her bagillion followers are actually eligible American voters though. Perhaps the legions of tweenie fans will be able to exert the pressure on their parents.

It was hilarious watching Trump in the "spin room" immediately after trying to flog the ultimate dead horse as an overwhelming win for him. It's quite sad really, I think he genuinely believes what he is saying. He's certifiably delusional.

From slightly right-of-center Fox political analyst Brit Hume, Harris was “well prepared, had answers, and knew where she was going.”

Hume also indicated Harris managed to derail Trump at various points throughout the debate.

“She baited him — successfully,” Hume said. “She came out ahead in this, in my opinion. No doubt.”

Hume added that Trump had a “bad night.”

Fox commentator Harold Ford was put forward for a possible Trump cabinet position. Despite that, he said “Tonight, she won.”

Who ultimately may be the demo that ultimately decides this election, based on numbers, but only if they turn out to vote, but a large number of the big swell in Harris grass roots campaigns/door knockers are Gen Z, so it is quite likely. Its easy to see why, they see a fresh start in Harris and like that she has ideas to help them achieve the "american" dream.

Well this could be his down fall, another point she could use, is question his age and mental health. They did it to Biden, so why not. Certainly would push him over the edge :-)

Oh that is very good stuff to hear, from an unlikely source.

If by chance, unlikely, but if Harris got some big momentum I do wonder how quick the rats would jump ship both in media and Repub party. (change their tune)
